Er, uh, that isn't a 3000 (I don't care what the trussrod cover says.)
There is NO BINDING on it anywhere! Body? Neck? Headstock?

There were older 3Ks with the old headstock that were like that, although they were very short lived. It's definitely a 3K - ebony board, abalone inlays, etc. If it had a newer headstock I would assume maybe it was a custom order, but the semi-customs didn't exist back then.

I was thinking the same "if it had the new headstock it could be a semi-custom." I don't remember ever seeing a 3k with no binding until semi-customs.
And then I wondered why anyone would pay extra to cheapen it.

That's a good price. @tobijohn I know you like to have one of everything Agile, so if you want it, click buy. I'll think about it a little while.

Yeah, I went ahead and bought it. I've got some with the original headstock (and a few with the original horn) but not a 3000 with that finish and definitely nothing normally unbound...

It may well be one of the earliest al-3000m's.
Those came with no binding, and the pearloid TRC.

I am, that's why you'll see me standing on the local I95 exit ramp holding up a cardboard sign that says "Will work for Agiles"...

Sweet thanks for finding this, this is exactly the one I was thinking about when speaking with @mickey above but couldn't locate the Rondo page.

I do not remember it at all, but being completely unbound made it completely forgettable to me.

I'm a binding fanatic as well.
I had one of them, and eventually sold it when I got a bound AL-3000m (also because of the 10 pounds).

It was a fantastic guitar though, one of the best playing Agiles I ever had.

I have to admit - if that guitar had been born without its pick guard, I would have had to buy it.

I posted this in another lefty related thread but here it is again. I think I might justr copy or rename this thread "Lefty Used Deals" so going forward, everything is in one place:

Here's an AL-3010SE in definitely better shape. With the upgraded Hipshots and a HSC and considering the drift up in used values, I suppose $350 shipped is decent deal but not an exciting one at the listed price. I might have considered throwing a bid out there around $250 and settling for $275 but I've got that finish on another AL and have 3010SEs up the wazoo so I'm staying on the sidelines. UPDATE:

It arrived a few days ago, safe and sound despite a so-so packing job. The GC description was "Good" but other than slightly tarnished pickup covers (they look to be that brushed style), I would rate the rest of the guitar as excellent.

It didn't need much of a setup but unless it's some sort of "player's hack", whoever installed the last set of strings did it backwards so they pull from the outside of the tuner. I was like WTH when I initially tuned it up as you have to turn opposite to what is normal. Anyway, it will get a new set once my Hosco fret erasers get here. The frets are fine, just thought I'd give the guitar a general cleanup. I threw a pickguard on it as well and will look around for a blank black TRC.

Also, it has binding after all, it's the natural stuff which wasn't apparent in the GC typical low quality pictures. Pickups sound great and will remain in the guitar. These old Agiles I generally just leave alone, although the pots are a bit scratchy and if De-Oxit doesn't take care of that, I'll replace them with the higher quality brass shaft Alphas. A few mediocre pics from my phone below:
