Was in a local mall, crane on building next door collapsed, everyone thought there was a gunman in the mall from the sound as it careened off the edge of the building. Also a building completely collapsed a few miles away. The trains were all stopped all day..took me hours to get a cab back home. All in 102 F heat.
There were 2 cranes, 1 stayed in place, 1 fell hard

The epicenter was some 500 miles away in Myanmar. I think they got destroyed but government there restricts news so hard to tell

Unvfortunately, at least 2 were killed. A few miles away a government building under construction (4 years in now) collapsed, many missing I am sure some dead. Many hi rise condos in Bangkok are not allowing residents back in due to cracks and safety concern. Hi rise condos are all over the place...many people without a place to stay today. They're gonna have to get structural engineers to evaluate all before they are deemed safe.

Thanks,
Suprisingly being only about 40 minutes north of Bangkok, we did not seem to have any effects in our area. We are kind of in a lowland that was formerly part of the river/river basin a few hundred years ago before development shifted the course of the flow. My theory is that the underlying waster basin buffered any tremors and we locally did not experience any real damaging effects. I was in Bangkok, having had taken the train to the city and I left my car at the supermarket lot next to the MRT station. It was under an awning and I was fearful that the awning would have collapsed onto my vehicle but when I finally got back to the car (a 4 /12 hour ordeal), seemingly there was nothing going on, so much so that the supermarket was still open and people just seemed unfazed by what happened.

@andrewsrea are on a big fault that people never think about. Last time there was an earthquake, a whole town just got swallowed by the earth via liquefaction.
Anyhow, I saw videos of the earthquake. It was intense. I'm glad to know that you're safe.

Which is why I have an earthquake rider on my home insurance policy. In our area, standard policies don't cover a penny of earthquake damage.

Actually, no. New Madrid was NOT the epicenter of the December 1811 & January 1812 earthquakes.
New Madrid was the largest "city" between St Louis Mo & Natchez, MS at the time of the quakes.
Liquefaction from those quakes created Reelfoot Lake in NW Tennessee.
Those quakes also caused the Mississippi River to run backwards for a time, rang church bells in Boston, MA amongst other things.
Should you ever drive I-55 between St. Louis & Memphis you will notice the rock strata in the highway cuts is 5 to 10 foot thick, typically.
And it runs in 6 to 9 foot sinewaves. The sinewaves were created by the "New Madrid" quakes.
If they were to happen today there would not be a building left standing in Memphis, nor would there be a standing bridge across the Mississippi River north of Natchez to some distance north of St. Louis.
Quakes of that sort have hit (on average) every 300 years for the last 3000+ years. Since the last quakes of that ilk were in 1811 & 1812, you don't have to be a math whiz to see we are overdue for more.
