First I feel the need to address something. I know I haven't been around here a whole lot the last couple of years. My head hasn't been in a very good space for a while. Terrible depression and anxiety were preventing me from enjoying some of the things I love like guitars and music. However, my doctor recently started me on a new medication and it has cleared out of the cobwebs from my brain and I'm feeling better than I have in many moons. I hope to be participating more around the ol' AGF more. I hope you all are well and prospering!

Now to the good stuff... I've been wanting to pick up a single HB Floyd Rose guitar for a while. A while back I took a chance on a Kramer Baretta Special when they were still $179 and I absolutely love that guitar. If you've looked at those and been on the fence because they're so cheap just try one. They so good! Anyway, that made me want to pick up either a regular Baretta or a "The '84" model but I hadn't yet pulled the trigger because I was planning to wait until after some boring old financial responsibilities were taken care of. But then I saw on Slickdeals the other day that the EVH Striped Series (R/B/W) was on sale for $849 at Adorama (usually $1349). [Why is Adorama such a GAS enabler?!?] I could not resist and puked the trigger. This gorgeous creature just arrived Friday afternoon.

Unfortunately I didn't get to play it for long because my wife and I were heading out of town for a wedding so it's just sitting in my office waiting for me to return but it's really cool. Just wanted to share!

HNGD. These Striped Series guitars really are great, especially the necks.

And they love big brass blocks.

When you get back from the wedding, I advise wailin' some Van Halen. For medicinal purposes. ;)

A new guitar can be good medicine for depression and anxiety. You chose a great one and got an awesome deal too! I love my EVH Frankie Relic and my 5150 Standard. Of course it's all very subjective, but in my opinion the EVH brand are the best superstrats out there.

I've had a Ruby Red Kramer Baretta Special in my cart at Sweetwater for the last couple of cycles of sell outs and backorders, and yet I still haven't pulled the trigger. I think you may have given me that little extra push that'll inspire me to grab one this time around.

Thanks man! My chops are pretty bad after not playing much the last few years. I don't know if I can really pull off much VH right now (not that I could ever even think about playing like Sir Edward, R.I.P.) but maybe this will inspire me to work on getting back to better playing condition.

Appreciate it TMC. Yeah, the neck feels so good in the hand!

My KBS is ruby red, as well. It's really closer to hot pink but I dig that. I replaced the tuners and ordered a Graphtec nut which I never installed. Otherwise I didn't feel the need to mod anything else.

Some folks on YouTube have added Floyds to these (the hard part is the nut). I keep thinking I should nab one, but kinda want bigger frets. Of course, picking up a used one on the cheap would make me feel better about trying my first refret. And I don't have any mahigany guitars right now. Hmmm.....

EDIT: Looks like there's a blue one near me for $240 (regular Cdn price is 329)....I have too many other projects right now for this....

So good to see you around here again, Aaron!

I´m sorry about the depression and anxiety you´ve been going through; I´m glad it´s been taking care of, and the sure sign of that is that new guitar!

Enjoy it!

Thank you Jeff! I will do. When I was playing for those few short minutes I was trying to get acquainted with the D Tuna. I've never played a guitar with one before. Exciting new experimentation!

Doo eet!

I don't know if you're on the bookface but there's a Kramer Baretta Special group on there, and there's tons of guys who've done Floyds and even way beyond in terms of mods. I thought about trying that but I can't be arssed to do all that work these days.

Actually now that I think of it, I was in GC the other day and they had a few new ones listed I believe for $225 USD. You should check around before you pay above that for used.

Well, $225 USD is close to $305 CAD. I'd be OK with $240.

And I just started grain-filling the most important of the projects. 8-)
