Douglas Hadron 625 FX NA - Thoughts or Opinions?

A Douglas Hadron 625 FX NA has gone for sale local. Looks to be in good shape, but it's a bit of a ride to be disappointed.
Just wondering if anyone here has any opinions? Gosh I miss the old board!

I don't have any experience with that PARTICULAR model, but I have a couple of its cousins:

and they are both solid players!

What I have to offer really is just an opinion, because I have nothing to offer on the basis of experience regarding that particular make and model.

That being said . . .

If your looking for a shreddy metal type guitar . . .
. . . and if you prefer a fixed bridge (string through at that) . . .
. . . and if it's being offered at a price roughly equivalent to or less than the original $179.95 Rondo price . . .

. . . Then you're most likely not going to find a better deal on a neck through body guitar. I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't already know in saying that neck through guitars are synonymous with Jackson and BC Rich. If that instrument had either of those names on the headstock it could be sold for several times over the original Rondo sale price.

If you want to turn it into a serious professional instrument I'd expect to upgrade some of the electronics and hardware . . . but then again, maybe not. You never know until you play the thing. Sometimes a "cheap" guitar will surprise you.

With it's Jackson shark fretboard inlays, BC Rich-esque Gunslinger headstock, and classic Ibanez RG HSH pickup layout, I personally think that guitar is a a super cool super-strat mash-up.

What is the asking price anyways? That's a significant factor.

Based on this....I went to check it out. Was only a 20 minute ride. The guitar seemed off. The action was off, a few minor dings (but in conspicuous areas), lots of buzz on the lower strings and both control knobs were loose (no big deal, but). Seller said "It was my sons and it has been sitting in the basement for a few years" and with no case. Even at $130 I took a pass. Enough projects in the que. Thanks for all the advice though!

If it didn´t have that many "buts" it would have been a nice thing to grab. I like it; the back looks awesome! (but a guitar is more about playing than looking!)

I would have offered 100! it was worth 100 but its a douglas not an agile or decent Ibanez, and needing work its 100 lol

It is worth way more than $100 . A chance to buy a unique guitar at an under the radar of the sniffers price.
I have kept mine stock even the pickups , one regret is that it is trans blue and hard to see the wood glory unless outside or under bright lighting.

Sill have my Spad with the effing awful fretwork that's never had working electronics. And my Douglas Scope 725.

If I ever attempt a fret job, it will be on the Spad.

I was silly enough to sell my Spad. I truly regret that. Dumb, awful, move. I just consider it a life-lesson now.

I love my Spad, even with the issues. I just wish that a) I could wire/solder worth a damn, and b) the high E would stop getting caught UNDER the edge of the 7th fret.

At this stage, I figure it isn't worth anything, so why not try stuff with it? I might even learn something.
