1) MAXIMUM file size of "Attachments" has been increased from 2MB to 4MB. Please be aware that many members DO NOT have High Speed connections and therefor when they open a pic of that size it may take a long time for it to DOWNLOAD on to their device. Be considerate and RESIZE your pics BEFORE you upload them.

No. I'm saying we should all consider that NOT EVERYONE has a fast internet connection and if they try to VIEW AND therefor DOWNLOAD a pic of that size it will take a long time and may frustrate/piss them off. So just take that into account and act accordingly.

Thanks for the clarification. I rarely post pictures anymore so no biggie for me. Mostly I just copy image location from picture elsewhere online and not always sure how large they are.
I just posted a Gorgeous Tom Anderson Telecaster in another thread and it looked HUGE. But when I downloaded the pic to my desktop to check it turned out is was only 167kb. I was surprised.

EXACTLY the way to do it. A 4MB pic is ridiculous in size. Some phone users don't realize that with the advances in camera tech the pics they take are even larger than that. Yet we should still accommodate them and don't grasp or even care about the impact on those "less fortunate". Our board automatically compresses images and yet I still get complaints. I WILL NOT be increasing that any more. I may even take it back down to the 2MB limit.

I don't have much personal investment in size limit as I don't post many images.

I will say that Pictures and videos were a HUGE part of our former home. So the easier that can happen here I think the more this forum will grow.

Agreed. Videos are not "uploadable" only linked to the current post. Pics can be posted here via Attachments or links to other sites. Attachments fall under the size limitations. Linked ones don't. People have options however Attachments may take a bit of extra work by the member which is no different than any other board.

Having the site automatically resize them is the best route. Having people resize every picture they post is only going to deter people from sharing pictures, or at least how many.

They DON'T have to resize EVERY picture. The Board will automatically resize ANY picture ATTACHMENT that is 4MB or less. Also there is a limit of 5 attachments PER POST. Meaning at the high end, 20MB of files is a possible DOWNLOAD to your device PER POST. Any ATTACHMENT over 4MB needs to be resized by the member PRIOR to ATTACHING. The need to balance the DOWNLOAD performance from the Server to give ALL members a good experience is the most important factor here.
