Hi All,

I snagged this recently off reverb. Seller claimed it to be an 80s esp that had some work done. One thing he failed to disclose is that the backplate says Zep on it.

While I don’t know a ton about them Zep is apparently comparable to Edwards. And while it’s a nice guitar I feel like I got a bit bamboozled. Seller claims it’s a real esp because the esp logo is under the neck finish (many ways around this).

It’s a nice guitar and plays well but I don’t believe it’s a real esp.

The serial number is one off from
Another guitar on reverb that was identical and labeled Zep.

Either the headstock has been refinished or the neck has been swapped. I'd return it if it were me unless a significant partial refund were given.

Since ESP built ZEP guitars it's possible that it was a factory mistake if not I agree it's probably had the neck replaced
