Snagged this puppy from gc’s used section. It’s a Yamaha SBG 2000.

At first I was very let down- finish is foggy (no idea what happened here), has bumps and bruises which I’m fine with and also was routed for three pickups, hence the pickguard. Also looks like maybe someone put a different bridge on and then changed their mind.

On the plus side - neck is A-mazing. I love me a single pickup guitar but not sure the emg was the best fit for it. I may do a super distortion or get our friend Tim from Buddha pickups to make a nice one for her.

Pairs well with my westbury

Nice looking guitar, but yeah, the finish condition is odd. It couldn't have come from the factory like that, so makes you wonder what happened to it? You don't suppose a previous owner decided to sand the clear coat?

Neck and fretboard look really good though. And as long as it plays well, that's all that matters, right?

I may give some thought to a re finish. I have a guy down the road from me who does awesome work.

Sometimes odd things with finish as well as battle scars lets the character be seen I kinda like finishes with quirks scars they set a guitar apart. Either way great score and HNGD>

NIce, I really dig the Yamaha double cut styling.
Never held one - how does it balance - neck dive or no?

Pretty well balanced actually. Though to be honest- i mostly playing sitting down without the aid of a strap.

So instead of adding another post. I figured I’d show these two that I snagged today. I can’t even believe I have 3 yamahas, much less one.
