This is a message that Kurt posted on the Rondo site last night. Such BS.....but what else would anyone expect from Paypal. I sure wish more people would use other payment processing services.
January 27, 2022 For those of you waiting for AL 3100s, 3200s, Intrepids, Septors and Interceptors (pre-order), your guitars have cleared customs and have arrived at our warehouse. We have started inspections, setups and shipping them out. We hope all or at least most of these pre-orders will ship out out by the end of the first week of February (around Feb 4). Update on Paypal We have be notified by paypal that due to our sales increases (from this container I presume) they will be holding our paypal funds up to 3 week. Unfortunately our staff and vendors still need to be paid, so for the rest of January we will not longer be accepting paypal. This is particularly frustrating as we have been using paypal for about 15 years now we no previous issues like this and no issues with any other payment type as they suggest in their message. Sorry for the inconvenience. I have posted the paypal message below:
.... I apologize for the inconvenience this may be causing. Delaying funds availability is a common industry practice we implement to help ensure the safe and secure use of PayPal by both buyers and sellers. This threshold was placed on your account according to your projected sales. In a calendar month, you’ll have instant access to the first amount received from sales. Above that amount, the money becomes available up to 21 days after you receive the payment. The amount immediately available to you is reset every month. f there aren't any issues with your transaction, such as a customer filing a dispute, the payment will be released 21 days after receipt...
I feel sorry for Rondo

I had a very nasty interaction in with PayPal about six months ago. This pretty well illustrates the finish in the race for which company is the biggest scumbag. GoFundMe is not far behind, along with another international juggernaut whom I'm legally restrained from mentioning lest I be annihilated out of my existence.

I often use a PayPal option when checking out because it is quicker, but I would never not buy something because I have to use a credit card. If I was in Kurt’s shoes, I would drop PayPal as an official option, and maybe just post a note “PayPal accepted by request only, please call or email”
Maybe when they see their business from Rondo drop by 99% they might notice and care. Probably not though.

I default to credit cards anyway because I like the cash-back. This issue wouldn't slow me down for a second.
This is likely not driven by Paypal by choice, but by the new reporting / tax legislation.
Whether or not Paypal is on-board with the politics behind it, I dont know.

It has nothing to do with that. Rondo is a commercial client with large enough volumes that nothing has changed with the new law for them.
ok, I wasnt sure.
But how about it has something to do with tracking the buyers / consumer / Everyone else?
What benefit is it to the Paypal business model then?
They provide a payment service for a fee, how do they justify holding funds / preventing businesses to function?
Screw them.
All part of the Cabal, the Illuminati, or some such world domination group?
Gotta be a reason.

PayPall provides buyer protection. If a vendor and customer have a dispute, PayPal will refund the customer and then try to collect from the vendor. They are withholding funds from the vendors for three weeks to see if there are and disputes, and if not then they will forward Kurt his money. If a dispute does come up, they don’t have to ask for money back because they have not paid Rondo yet. It’s BS to cover their own butt from potential losses.
The reporting stuff is for private transactions that sum up to $600 per year. There was already reporting for $10k and above and commercial accounts. I am sure Rondo has been covered by that forever. The impact of the new law will be on people like us who sell one or two things a year.

My experience is that if a seller sells something (which is from me, or Rondo) and there’s a disagreement, they suck the money out of your bank account anyway.
If I buy something from someone I NEVER use PayPal if I can use my normal cc. To me, it just puts more money in their pockets (transaction fees) and I would choose to not do that since I have had a number of negative experiences with PayPal and I do not like them.

Any self respecting scammer knows to move the funds out of the account long before the buyer can even file a complaint. I don’t have an issue with PayPal trying to limit losses from scams, but to put that burden on an established and honest business like Rondo is pure BS, that ends up hurting both retailers and consumers in general.

If this was government forced or caused I really hate these idiot companies that try to hide it from their customers. Just say it.
That said I am open to a better alternative to ebay.
Also looking for a way to buy and sell crypto that is actually secret and private and well, crypto.
