The Meteora is pretty damn cool too. The Meteora HH is kind of like the Toronado if George Jetson had designed it!
What Guitar Do You Want... Just Because?
In ways, I like the original Tele version, but there is just something about the HH in LPB.
Wow, so much Meteora love... The reaction that guitar got when it first came out seemed to range from tepid to "do not want!" Personally, I was quite taken with the prototype when I first saw pictures of it back in 2012 (called the "Voyager" originally. I think they should have stuck with that name):
I personally loved the retro-futuristic, "Jetsons" look of it. It reminds me of a line from the Simpsons, when they go to their version of Epcot Center, and Lisa says: "Wow, this is what people in 1962 thought 1986 was going to look like!"
Six years went by, and I kinda forgot about it until the first Meteora came out in 2018. I was pretty jazzed until I saw the price... I'm kinda averse to spending $1,000 on a Mexican Fender just because it looks cool, and I resigned myself to waiting for a Squier version to come out. But when Rosser Guitars started offering the Meteora body in Ash and in any pickup/bridge configuration, it was on like Donkey Kong!
I felt like I was kinda full-up on Telecasters at the time, though, and I had been wanting a Jazzmaster for a while, so I had it routed for JM pickups and vibrato, and built the "Eclipse" (I think @Tiga came up with the name, but I could be mistaken). At this point, it doesn't even really look like a Meteora anymore, but I dig it!

There IS such a thing as "overdoing it."
Or, IS there?

ML, LP, SG, Jaguar, Mustang, any acoustic, a Fender, a 7-string. Honestly it's just easier to say "most of them".
I already know what I prefer (24 fret Vs) and I know I'd barely play anything else besides another good V anyway, so any other (inferior) shape, design or deviation would basically just be wall art or fiddled with very occasionally.

It only comes in the flat black finish which is what I would want if I my preference anyway. It is an Emily Wolfe signature Sheraton. The neck profile is much different that the stand Sheraton and like it much better.

If I didn't already have a Mahogany Tele with humbuckers, that would probably on my list of "just because" guitars too. I suppose if I'm going to be completely honest, I should add a Nashville Tele...
a Cabronita...
...and a Strat-Tele hybrid to my list too:
I really like the aesthetics of that^ mash-up, but not so much the other way around:
I could go for a Nashville Strat-Tele hybrid too... Kill two birds with one stone.

I found the Sheraton that I briefly owned to be kinda cumbersome to play, and it was heavy AF.tonebender wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 8:23 pmIt only comes in the flat black finish which is what I would want if I my preference anyway. To be honest, I've never played one... I just like the idea of it. I don't have a burning desire for a Nashville Tele, but I have a feeling I may end up building one, one of these days... Probably all of them.Tonray's Ghost wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 8:52 pm

Seriously?? That can't be made of real MOP and Abalone... Then again, I don't think the Airline is, either.

No reason for this other than it's the bee's-knees. I am working on alternating thumb-picking. It's just too cool. 'Always thought that but never gave it a good try.

I'll try and get some real close up shots of it soon...I know a shop that has it on the wall in Bangkok...when I get to town...have to dodge Delta variant and political protests these days.Mossman wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 9:06 pm

Oh, there's nothing trivial or impulsive about desiring a Gretsch... I would say I have much more valid reasons for wanting a 5622 than say, a Telemaster, or a Toranado.

I had an odd one the other week where I couldn't see Brad's pictures,Mossman wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 12:56 am OK, I tried three other browsers, and I can't see your pics with any of them. I have no idea what browser setting could be preventing me from seeing it, since I never use two of the other browsers and have never changed any of the settings. But I do recall the last time this happened, the problem seemed to fix itself somehow, as I could see the pics the next time I came back to the thread. Maybe I'll see them tomorrow.
Turned out it was a system update and because the images were not hosted on a private (HTTPS) site, I had to 'trust' the site, and "Abracadabra" the images all appeared.
I'd really like a PRS Private Stock dragon's breath - but my playing ability doesn't justify a $1,000 guitar, let alone a $10,000 plus . . . .
