I just looked @mickey and the buying power of one dollar in 1972 was equal to $6.53 in 2021. That seems low in my estimation soda was 10 cents and your choice of candy bar was a nickle that $.15 bought what now cost $3.50 plus now.

I agree that seems low.
Don't forget gas was about $0.20 per gallon, etc.
My wife & I bought two new cars in 1972 and the total cost was less than $5000 for BOTH COMBINED!
We also bought a house in January 1973 for $24,750.00. It was >3000 square foot two story on a 2 acre lot!

This was my wife's car:

Just thinking, in 1962 I bought a brand new Gibson J-45 for $125.00
According to the on-line inflation calculator that works out to
$1129.98 in 2021.
I don't think J-45's sell for $1129.98, do they?

Gotta pay those execs and all the sponsored artists. Company was probably pretty lean and mean back when it was headquartered on Parsons street compared to the lifestyle brand they have become.

I laugh because I've done that.
Me too. Picked up a used strat with a poly stripped maple neck/fb and I loved it so much I was driving away before I realized I never plugged it in :)

and I made a whole $1.65 per hour, which was a dime an hour higher than minimum wage. :D
My first job as a bench tech paid $2.15 an hour and I thought I had gotten rich I also remember the first time I hit $5.00 per hour that was bigtime celebrating.
That first job I mentioned, my co-workers who had been there 5 or 10 years were making $3.47 an hour.
I couldn't figure out what they did with all that money! After all, I could have put half in the bank, paid all my bills & couldn't party away the rest!
The old $ isn't worth what it was back then. :(
Venezuela here we come. :(

I had no idea I over paid so much but it's good to know that GC stands behind even they're used gear (whew what a relief). If anyone sees an Agile Cool Cat for $300 or less shipped please let me know. Thanks again that's why I'm here to learn from seasoned pros I admit I'm a rookie I've only been playing 55 years and only been repairing guitars for 35 years and since I've only bought 14 or 15 guitars from GC I had no idea of their generous return policy.
Well looks like you did take my advice and returned it after all, so I guess this sarcastic post above wasn't warranted huh?

WOW @slowhand84 didn't mean to rustle your feathers sorry you didn't like what I said but if you don't want me to post these type replies perhaps you shouldn't write such a condescending post.
One other thing I returned the guitar because it was listed as in "very good" condition w/HSC the reason I bought it. The tuners had been replaced with ones that were not correct leaving screw holes in the headstock, the nut had been replaced but was sanded at an angle and did not fit properly and they made a large chip in the finish at the nut, it did not fit the case leaving stress on the neck not to mention it was filthy so that's why I returned it it had nothing to do with your post.

So now that we've both had our say I refuse to get into anymore schoolgirl drama with you so let's drop the subject move on and enjoy this forum, MOMO did enough damage to it we don't need to cause more by stupid bickering over an internet post between two people that have never nor will ever see each other. Hope you have a great day.

No feathers rustled man, just some good ole fashioned joshing/joking around. I honestly don't feel my initial post was condescending at all, simply providing information like you asked...if I bought something priced higher than its market value and asked for advice or info about it I would want someone to tell me. Not looking for any drama or arguments, I was just surprised by your reply because I really didn't intend or see anything insulting in mine...but of course on the internet tone doesn't always come across properly, so apologies if it came off that way :) .

Sorry the guitar didn't work out but I certainly hope you find another one you love soon!
