It's no secret I have fallen in love with Korean Deans...this is the fourth one I have bought. They are just so good, especially for the price.
Normally I've put Gibson 498r bridge pups in all my guitars, but these Time Capsule pickups are absolutely great. I can't tell the bridge pickup apart from the rest, not in a band context or quick tests at least. Swapped the guitar every other song during practice session and yeah, the first time I don't think I'll have to change the pup.
Also the neck pickup was a big surprise. This one isn't dark and stuffy at all like the usual neck buckers, but especially when the volume is turned down, it cleans up to an unbelievably single-coil-like chime. Again, I won't have to replace it with a parallel wired pickup like on other axes.
I don't think I ever had an axe before I didn't feel I'd need to modify somehow. Very surprised.
Well I did a wee bit. On all my Deans I've moved the neck heel strap button about 1/2" backwards, because it just gets in the way reaching the higher frets, because I use big Schaller strap locks. But that's it...don't have to modify anything else on this.
And they go for like 550 new...I paid 444, and it's totally mint almost like it's never been played.
I still have one Epiphone V, and while it's a nice guitar, it just doesn't have the vibrance and life these Deans have. I might have to swap it for yet another Dean.
If you're looking for an affordable yet great quality V these 79s are worth a look. They honestly feel and sound every bit as good as multi-grand Gibsons etc I've played.
