First Photo is of my old band the Bayou Pigs about the time we signed to Sub Pop circa 1990. I am on the far left, in the cowboy hat. Second photo was a Funk/Rap/Punk band I was in called Monster Soup. This is from a 1994 gig in Mexico City. I am the guitar player on the left. The audience was on a balcony that was even with those amps. Very strange set-up. I felt like a badass in this era of my life. LOL

Third photo was Monster Soup reunited as old men back in 2014

This is about as "cool" as I ever got... Which probably isn't very, but people thought I was a cool guy at the time.

I was day-drinking at a bar called "Monsoons" in Flagstaff, AZ, where I frequently played and ran sound back in the '90s.

That's funny, I used to go to Flagstaff semi-regularly in the late 90s. I might have had a beer next to you some time.

Hofner President, as I recall, my first serious jazz guitar, and a Supro amp (if memory serves me aright …)

I even still have the poster—the bass player was used to playing early jazz, so his "modern" chops were somewhat lacking, hence his nickname of "Thud"!

That's more than likely... If you went to Monsoons, Charley's (Hotel Weatherford), or the Mogollon Brewing Company, you'd probably find me at one of those three places most often, but I was knee-deep in the local music scene, so I could be found just about anywhere live music was played in the downtown area (which was pretty much everywhere). But those were my three main bases of operation.

Looking back, I definitely spent too much time (and money) in those establishments, but I don't think I ever would have survived in that town without them. I think every decent job or opportunity I ever had came as a direct result of talking to somebody in one of those local saloons. That's how you networked and made connections. That's where business was conducted... Deals were made... Insurrections planned.

I've posted this one before, either here or on the old forum, but this was taken at Charley's at the Weatherford... Maybe you recognize it? I don't have many pictures from back in those days... Or in general, really.

In 1960 you would have been a beardo weirdo... You pretty much had to play jazz.

I would have liked to have owned a Hofner President (or Senator) if I were alive in 1960. And a Supro amp, too. When I was kid in the 80's, I had a small, vintage Supro (8.5 watts with an 8" Jensen speaker), but I had never heard of them before. To me, it was just an old, under-powered piece of junk... And my bass sounded naff through it. Of course I regretted getting rid of it later on down the road.

350 hp 327 with a Rochester 4bbl carb. Man, that bad boy would fly. You could watch the needle on the gas gauge move, but who cared. Sunoco 260 was like rocket fuel and was 29 cents a gallon. Those days are gone.

Age 13 with my biggest fan "Digit"

Since y'all been talking old Vettes, here is my first one:

Nice vette Mickey, love the C1 body style. When in HS, a friend’s uncle owned one of the prototype’s. It had been updated by GM to test the small block V8 after production started, so it was a 1952 with a 1954 ish prototype engine. If I remember correctly, I think he said he paid $1000 for it in the late 50’s.

The one in the picture is a 1959. They sold new for about $3000-3200. How things do change.
