I've been resisting posting because I've been resisting posting.
I"m not that comfortable with the format which is really an issue with me ( no kidding)
I have been cooped up being as creative as possible. I've done a few online "shows" I've picked up a couple
small guitars and a tenor guitar I have not touched. Every week I have done a Zoom meeting with attendees of my monthly open mic.
It's become an event I look forward to. Except for a few times fishing and a couple weeks with my kids in CT , I've been within blocks of home
or visiting my dad in assisted living. They don't allow you in but I stand outside his room and we talk. It's keeping him disease free at 97.
I will try to assemble a few pics of guitar projects. I've taken piezos out and put magnetic pickups in several acoustics. Haven't done much recording
but covering a ton of material, more Steely Dan, Michael McDonald, Doobies, Beatles.
I am in decent health. Hope each of you are safe and well .I'm gonna try to get this shit worked out mainly to enjoy other people's posts in a systematic way which is challenging.
THanks to everyone who works to keep this going, to evolve it and make it better.
I'm Fine , How are you ?

No kidding, I've been recently wondering about you. I too have felt that there was something missing here. Turns out part of that was you not being here. So glad you've come back to us.

If you've been following Steve on Facebook, the only thing to worry about is how he cooks such outrageously incredible food and how is it he doesn't weigh 600 lbs by now.toomanycats wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 4:14 am No kidding, I've been recently wondering about you. Good to hear from you. Curious what bothers you about the format. For me, it’s the way way way to frequent requirement to log back in and also the super annoying tapatalk popup shit. It would be nice if the cookies were a lot more persistent and I could stay simultaneously logged in on multiple devices for months at a time like the pre-Momo days.
I was wondering about you as well Steve. Glad you are well and made your way back to check in. I miss your live in the park jam posts!
All good here. My mom is 94 and we’ve done our share of window visits as well. Not ideal but better than nothing.
Stat healthy.

Hey Steve, glad to see you and that you are doing well in spite of the current challenges. That’s Fantastic that you are able to see your dad so often, albeit not as you would maybe like. I’m sure your time spent with him is part of what is keeping him healthy and going. I would love to see some of your culinary adventures and of course your musical endeavors.
Hope we can help you with any site issues/questions you might have. I’ve pretty much accepted and embraced the new site as the norm, so I’d probably have issues going back to the old one!

Glad to see you checking in as you're one of the reasons I kept coming back. After all every one like a good ham ever now and then. I've been rehabbing a leg in asisted living nursing rehab place. We haven't even had window visits though scheduled 15 minute visits will now be allowed.

Very glad you are here Steve. There are still many missing, and also those who checked in for a while and then disappeared again. PsychoCid comes to mind. I have sent out some PMs but am at a place in life right now where I am not reaching out as much as I used to do.
I had pretty much stopped posting Pics on the old board and have done even less of it here.

Glad you checked in. Don't let the new sw bug you. Its been pretty functional and works well. Once they got where you didnt need to edit every pic before posting its been great.
If you go to the HTTP: site you'll have to log back in a lot.Chocol8 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 11:26 am Good to hear from you. Curious what bothers you about the format. But if you go to the HTTPS: site you won't.
I dunno from tapatalk as I have no hardware for it.

Interesting! You are the first person who has said that! As a rule using HTTPS: has fixed the problem.
I use it on multiple PC's in different buildings & have not had to log in in weeks (except for one SNAFU that was my fault.)

I'm more comfortable with this software than I was with the old software.
I believe it has fewer bugs than the old stuff did.
At least fewer things that get under my skin.

Welcome back to you, same as I was welcomed back just recently (so I couldn't notice anyone's absence). I was just away from everything and didn't even know what's been happening to AGF, nonetheless, it's nice to see "the old guard" around

Glad to hear you are okay!
I've noticed the traffic here isn't what it was and some member I've spoken with agree, it is the ergonomics and visual. The original site seemed to draw in more conversation.

The important thing is that you get to see your father. In these times, that´s a treasure you have.
Take care.

It felt so good to have such a nice welcome from everyone. I felt kinda "Douchey" dropping out at the END which indicates somewhat of a lack of character ( LOL ) . I HAVE felt a slowing down through these circumstances. I live alone and I live in a town that's a convenient commute but where I know no one. My whole social life takes place at venues, workshops and events. My monthly Open Mic has transitioned to Zoom. It's the high point of my week . We get 12-16 troubadours weekly which is pretty amazing. Having worked out the audio issues inherent in the platform we now have excellent sound and everyone is highly motivated to play a song they've been working on.
I spent a couple weeks on the shore where my son , daughter and their people rented a house a block from the water. I had a great time cooking ,hanging with my in laws and their people. It was nice being away. I've done some fishing , not that much writing or recording.I'm just trying to keep it all together and wait it out. I have added a few "little ones" and am planning on divesting on most of my standard acoustics. I will assemble some pics...
THANKS EVERYONE again for the great feeling of friendship and welcome. These relationships we've created , and we've been together OVER a Decade, mean a lot to me. I now have the familiar color scheme and know how to read recent posts so I don't have to start in the Cretaceous Period.

I'm with you 100% on the relationships created here Steve. I've only met one or 2 people from AGF face to face, but I agree that this community is a very important one to me. A lot of us kind of flaked out/bugged out for a while I think, for all of our own particular reasons. Where I live things are getting very bad again on the COVID front, places are shutting down and a lot of people are getting sick. I also got laid off back in July and I work for a healthcare organization now, and I'm seeing the devastating effect of COVID front and center. Our part of the state is at the literal epicenter of it all, and they are taking some pretty drastic measures like converting unused facilities ( State fairgrouns ) to makeshift COVID wards to handle the overflow at hospitals. It has been so hard to stay in touch with people in person that communities like AGF are a welcome sanctuary for me to escape all the other crap in the world for even just a little bit. Very glad to year you are doing some creative stuff, even if via Zoom - iv'e been following a couple of my favorites who have been live-streaming gigs from home ( Monte Montgomery for one ).stevebway wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 12:38 pm It felt so good to have such a nice welcome from everyone. Anway, no one thinks you are a Douche....we all have our own lives and need to take care of things there sometimes. And we are all welcome here.
