Yep the leads were an afterthought in that quick little tune. FIrst they were too loud, then they were too low and I got lazy.
So the connection helped a bit but I still notice that the helix sounds a bit more digital when recorded despite sounding brutal live.
I ended up ditching the FabFilter stuff I was using and went with Slate Digital stuff. I remixed the whole thing after watching Nolly's masterclass and some stuff with Nick Hill.
I have a ways to go though. I notice that the kick is fighting the bass guitar so I am going to have to side chain a compressor which means I have to load each drum individually so that is a "next week thing". And then the leads need to be ironed out. The mesa boogie type tone I've been using sounds too darn fizzy and scooped so I have to go with something different.
