Furrian Semi-Hollow

A couple of years ago I bought an ash Furrian to have as an inexpensive guitar for travel. Of course I set about modifying it and now it’s a fav of mine.

So I ordered a semi-hollow Furrian to be my travel guitar. I know we tend to get hyperbolic about the inexpensive guitars we buy, but this SX is legitimately a perfect build. I can’t find a single finish flaw anywhere on it. The fret ends are all good, the nut is cut well, the tuners are smooth, the setup was good.

As usual, the pups are passable, but worthy of replacement. I anticipated that and have a set of GFS pickups in my mailbox ready for a quick swap.

Couldn’t be more pleased with this $149 gem!!

I know what you mean! I've always been better satisfied with the SX guitars I've bought than the Agiles.
Probably because we have lower expectations of SX's than we do Agiles???

Cool beans, man... I love my P90 Furrian. I replaced everything on it that could be replaced, but I think the build and finish quality are excellent. The neck is perfect in my opinion. I love the profile, and I didn't have to file a single fret. The nut, though, was pure garbage and I had to cut another one for it (after going to war with the stock nut). That's been true of every SX guitar I've ever bought. The tuners are terrible, and the bridge saddles are usually flimsy with wobbly screw posts. For these reasons, I never recommend SX guitars for beginners, but for guys like us, they're a great platform.

I think SX guitar pickups sound decent. Not "bad" per se, but you can do better... I actually like the sound of SX P90s. They don't sound like P90s, but I like them for what they are, and the pickups in the "Fuchsia Strat" (Gypsy Rose) are some of the most musical sounding Strat pickups I've ever heard... They have a Strattyness to them, but the tone is very sweet, and almost flute-like. I haven't been fond of their Tele pickups, though. GFS was a good call... I think Tele pickups is what they do best.

Same for me. Great guitars as a base. Wontvreccomend to a beginner though. Every one had a nut problem. But never on an agile. Love their p90s. Dont hate their other pickups. I fairly like my sx strat pups. The tele pups are ok. Didnt sound like a tele but dont sound bad.
Never had to replace a tuner but some are better 4han others. I've always been impressed I could get top notch looking wood for half the price of the average boring lookingbpainted squire. The sx can have wood that's nicer than a 1500 fender.

Looks like a very nice guitar for the $$. Even with the recent price hikes, I can't think of many other brands that offer the overall bang for your buck that Rondo/SX continues to offer.
