I have a Red one from a previous run where the neck heel is smaller.. It's pretty nice and plays well.

Maybe price but not build quality. Based on my experience, they're more like SX/Douglas/Hadean, if that. However, I haven't bought any recently, @Lamf77 or @LightWingStudios would be better judges of current build quality...

They are not Agile in quality....these are Chinese not Korean. I have bought many and sold most. Electronics are usually mini pots. Hardware is not bad. Guyker/Kaish quality. Pickups most likely will be changed by anyone more than a hobby player. For the price point however, they are a great buy. Quality control has been a minor issue....some receiving the wrong guitar etc. Pictures do not match actual product (why I sold many of mine). Customer service is not good. Will most likely offer $20 credit for any issues. Returns are not easy. @tobijohn said...they are Douglas/Sx qualtiy. You get what you pay for applies here. Maybe a bit more than you pay for since they have zero customer service staff. Well at least 1.

Maybe a bit more than you pay for since they have zero customer service staff (maybe 1 person who's main language is Chinese) and probably very little mark up. If you get a good one, they are worth the money for sure.

I have only had the one Firefly, the semi-hollow 335 style guitar. The basic platform seems fine but I had to replace the tuners, pups, and wiring including pots to make it a guitar that I could gig with. Once upgraded it seems to be on par with Agile quality. Of course time will tell if the platform itself will hold up without cracking, separating and such. Not telling what type glues are used and that sort of thing. All that said, cheap guitars (in price) are much better than they were back in the day. The cheap stuff when I was coming up was some real crap. One can get a pretty damn good guitar now for under $200.

Kinda reminds me of the First Act Garagemaster (Volkswagen guitar).

Juliana Hatfield who is well known in the Indy Rock world played First Act guitars, but the earlier American made custom shop ones:toomanycats wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2023 5:18 pm Kinda reminds me of the First Act Garagemaster (Volkswagen guitar).

Fireflys are pretty good. Not quite Agile quality but definitely on par with other rondo offerings but rondo has gone a different route these days so Firefly, IYV, Grote, etc are all good substitutes for those who want a decent cheap platform to mod.

I would second that notion. I had a white DC just like the one in the OP back from one of the early runs and it was not a good one. In total I had 3 different F336's and one of the DC's and the DC was the only one I kept, the 336's all had major problems and were returned. The only reason I kept the DC was because "George" from Firefly essentially gave it to me for free based on all the problems I had with the 336.
There are a lot of better options out there IMHO.

How would you compare the current ff to the old sx Callisto jr? I really like my Callisto but a DC would be greatLightWingStudios wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2023 7:19 am I have a Red one from a previous run where the neck heel is smaller.. It's pretty nice and plays well.

I have both the really old-style Callisto Jr with the pointy horn and pointy headstock and the most recent one with the Agile horn and headstock. I don't have a Firefly DC (I don't think they ever offered a lefty version) but I do have two Harley Benton double-cutaways (DC-Junior and the DC-Junior FAT), and the SX neck profiles are very similar to the HB DC-Junior (the DC-Junior FAT is definitely the 50s baseball bat neck profile):

The right-handed DC-Juniors come in TV Yellow, Faded Cherry and Pelham Blue but there is no DC Special two pickup style offered in either dexterity...
