I bought a pair of these almost 20 years ago because they were considered the best computer speakers in the world. I paid around $200 I think.
Well, all these years later, and they're still considered among the very best. And on sale for $89!!

These are a no-brainer. And you can turn them into Bluetooth speakers with a Bluetooth adapter that costs 20 bucks.
I recently bought the highly-rated Edifier r1700BT bluetooth bookshelf speakers for $150, but those will be going back to Amazon. The Klipsch blow them out of the water. It's not even close. The Klipsch not only have a subwoofer, but are 200 watts compared to the 66 watts of the Edifiers.

Having worked for AltecLannsing (intentionally misspelled) during the 20 year old computer speaker craze, beware. Some company might design and sell a great speaker system. These will get great reviews and will be a great bang for the buck. Then a few years later they will start to cheapen the components used and the once great speaker system is not so great anymore as profits take priority over quality. Same exact model number is used also. Not saying i have personally seen this but....
Klipsch is one of the many competitors whom we used to buy a set and take apart to see what was inside. We also used to run freq response graphs, distortion specs and wattage measurements to see what was really going on. Then we would over design something for that market segment to get sales. I did always think Klipsch made a quality product.

these speakers are orgasmic
I cannot believe how much better they are than the Edifiers. And the Edifiers get consistently great reviews.
These ProMedias can compete with stereo speakers. Easily.

One of my friends back in the 2 channel stereo days had a set of the old-school Klipschhorn speakers. They were more like pieces of furniture than speakers and they literally shook house. This looks like a pretty good deal for a high end computer speaker setup for sure.

yes, back in the early 80s, my older brother bought a pair of those Klipsch speakers. They are HUGE. When my brother went off to college, he sold them to my father....who put them in his garage to listen to while he worked on his cars. Those speakers are still out there, blasting away.uwmcscott wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 4:24 pm One of my friends back in the 2 channel stereo days had a set of the old-school Klipschhorn speakers. I didn't have that kind of cash back then so I had a pair of giant Cerwin-Vega speakers that were kind of similar only in the fact that they had a horn tweeter and a giant woofer and were heavy as heck, but man where they loud. I lugged those things around for years after college and finally ended up getting rid of them to some kid who is still probably rocking them. I had a giant Hafler DH500 amp too which was like 250 watts per channel and was the king of the dorm stereo wars - plenty of Dokken and Metallica and Pink Floyd rocked the halls of Roach Hall at UW Stevens Point back in the late 80's.peskypesky wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 7:26 pm yes, back in the early 80s, my older brother bought a pair of those Klipsch speakers.
