And you are right... chosen for less surface area, a bit more elegant in my opinion.

Even my small 3-5w tube amps are too loud in the home at times, so I opted for this Marshall in a box type deal.
Got it a few months ago. I like it a lot. Still need to try it in Super Bass mode.
I had a Dano Daddy 'O for a few years that was pretty good too, but the DLS is REALLY good.

Thats nice, and a great deal.
I was trying to remember "Florentine" model last week. I then remembered and searched for hours reading about, looking at, etc. I wanted another semi-hollow with back plate control access.
I since talked myself into a laminate build rather than solid wood. I already have 2 agile AS2000s like the Florentine/cs336 build. I am now aiming for a 335 style.
I sold my firefly to a needy friend and so, my fiendish hunt is on.

After not buying any guitars for a bit, I just scored my holy grail of Jacksons...been after a super high end Rhoads for MANY years but never found the right one until now. This one is a Jackson Stars RR TN01-STB (that's a mouthful!), these are equivalent to the USA Rhoads models in every way and built in Japan to the highest standards. Mahogany body, maple thru body neck w/ebony board and MOP inlays, MOP headstock logo, binding, and of course it's the classic black n' gold color scheme to boot.

Interestingly enough this guitar was for sale online months ago but the seller wouldn't ship and had it priced at $2000, which is a bit high as these normally go for $1500-$1800 on average depending on condition. Was randomly browsing today and as it turns out he sold it to his local guitar shop, and they had it for just over $1000...so I jumped on it right away. @tobijohn, we were just talking about these situations  .

Will do a full review when it lands, but some crap pics for now:

One more pic of that sweet USA spec headstock...I will never understand why so many companies use that pearloid crap on expensive guitars when real MOP looks so damn good:

pending, incoming, still high from the trigger pull.

2002, ES-333 - the backplate (335) model. I'll do a NGD thread after I get it and do some work on it. It might need a new bridge, pup swaps, a good polish buff with Virtuoso goop, etc.

Gibson ceased the wonder, alright. Only produced from 2002 to 2005. There's only 3 old used available on reverb, while there's perhaps hundreds of 335's available there. Built to same specs in same Nashville plant as 335 line except with satin finish, decal headstock logo, and backplate which might have been easier for factory wiring as well as owner rewiring. The plate is exact same as on the BB King Lucille 355 variant that doesnt have f-holes.
So 333 was a cheaper model than 335. Some speculate that the cheaper 333 sales were quickly biting into 335 sales. IDK. At any rate, it was discontinued and the 335 market does still yearn for easier controls access. They should have brought the backplate into the the 335 name, or kept up with 333 model and charge more,

I'ld successfully routed/cut access panels into my two solid-wood Agile semi ( As2000s). But I'm not gonna do it to a Gibson 335.

I agree with @Partscaster . There is no reason I wouldn't want a back panel like that on my 335s, and it should make factory electronics installation easier too.

@Partscaster Holy crap that is an awesome guitar. I was just looking at those. Tell me about the neck profile. All I can find is "C". Is it more 60's or 50's? I think I see those exact pics still up on ebay. Is it for sale?

I will be sure to tell you about the neck Tonebender. Its not here yet. Its supposed to be a 60's style, but also the same neck as typical 335 of those years 2002-2005. I've read almost every thread I could find about the 333, but will know for sure later. I like the natural finish mine has. I'll be able to make it look fairly vintage if I polish the satin natural finish to a dull shine, which I want to do. I'll post about it, probably too much.

@Partscaster

As I said I have never been able to bond with the feel of any Gibson 335 model I have played. The Midtown is perfect. Can't bond with the Epi versions as well with the exception of the new Emily Wolfe model which feels amazing. I almost bought one but they are a bit overpriced IMO, Emily is great but still.....I even had the Heritage version and the neck profile was fine but the neck is too narrow. I think they must be 1 5/8". The Eastman 335 model profile is great but their necks are 1 3/4" wide. I like them 1.685 or 1 11/16". This sounds like the Three Bears fable. LOL Gotta have that porridge just right! I suppose we like what we like when it comes to guitars.

Well I guess this is my first posting here haha. Thanks to some AGFers kindness, I recently got a multieffects pedal Zoom G3xn. Still learning to use it and to tailor my sound with it. Perfect excuse for starting to play again after almost 2 years. :) I´m liking it so far.

i ordered this a few days ago when it was a $57 slickdeal. monoprice indio classic.
image.png
i got it just basically because it was so cheap. i already have more strats than i really know what to do with so i don't know what i'm going to do with it long term, most likely i'll set it up how i like it so it feels nice and eventually give it away.

so i wasn't expecting much, but honestly i like it more than i expected. i did have to do a bunch of small things: the strings felt pretty bad (faux d'addarios it looked like), the neck felt that sort of like gritty that you sometimes feel on these low end imports. i used some fine steel wool on the fingerboard, frets, and back of the neck to smooth everything out and rounded the edge of the fingerboard some and lazily and sloppily sanded the fret ends a little smoother so the neck felt okay. when i took those strings out they were pretty tight in the nut slots, my files went missing a while back but i a least put some graphite in them and put a new set of eb slinky 9's on it and adjusted the neck tension a little bit. it actually feels pretty good. it's set up so the trem is purely cosmetic (it's fully decked) so i just put it back in the bag. the pickups honestly sound better than i expected, hotter than i'm used to in a strat, at least with the heights set where they are.

honestly pretty pleased i picked it up even if i'm not sure what i'm going to do with it. maybe keep it in some weird tuning.

(edit) the only thing that's really pretty awful is the tuners. maybe they'll loosen up a little, otherwise they gotta go.
