Hello all,

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here. Had some things come up that were not so positive.

In the meantime I had a few projects I had finished (disclaimer - I’m no luthier, all the work was done by a local gentleman who is amazing)

The first
- I have wanted a koa looking Bc rich mockingbird for some time. Found this mahogany body with a piezo for $80 a week after I bought this gorgeous mahogany warmoth neck as a ‘just in case project’.

While the neck and body are not the right scale my local luthier made it work. Hard to tell it’s not an assembly line guitar.

The second
- I came across a gorgeous Luxxtone that I couldn’t take my eyes off. Asked my local luthier if I bought the wood would he make a body. He said yes.

So I bought the top and body blank off eBay $130 for both. He did the rest. The neck is an SJ custom which is fantastic. With all the materials and wood it’s the price of a new Epiphone.

Wow, both those guitars look fantastic! I really love natural wood grain showing through on guitars. And the body shape on the first one is really nice. The 2nd one's top almost looks like granite with that sweet grain pattern.

Let me know when you get bored of them, and I'll take them off your hands lol :-)

That's probably the best looking Mockingbird I've seen, and I'm not a big fan of the shape. I am a big fan of superstrats, however, and that's a nice one. Congrats!

Great choices, and very nice looking work - I'd keep that guy on speed-dial.

Those are stunning instruments. Dumb question but what wood is the second one?

Hi there, sorry. I have been having issues trying to sign in to the forum the last few weeks. Finally got everything sorted out today.

The strat is a curly spalted ambrosia maple on sapele (mahogany wood). Most people don't care for the sapele because it's heavy but i like a heavy guitar and it's cheaper.
