Looking to try the bass again and was going purchase a no name or a Donner off of Amazon. Then I bounced over to Sweetwater and found a used Squier Affinity P Bass for less than Donner. Should be here tomorrow.. it was suppose to be today, but that didn't happen. It's used because it got a chip during shipment.

NIce!
I bit on one of those dirt cheap Glarry bass on ebay but it was a scam; knew it was dicey.
Got a refund with no problem.

Looks like a winner to me. Just curious, any reason you didn't consider an SX from Rondo in that price range?

Cool. For a second there I was worried you may have order a Glarry off eBay. You guys remember that debacle? What frickin' nightmare that was.

I was going to get a glarry off amazon or ebay for about $100. I just figured they are the new sx and firefly.

Rondo doesn't carry any real basses anymore, for some reason. Just short-scales and bass ukuleles for as far as the eye can see.

He's low on everything per his message, but there are still a few Ursa's left in full scale. I really don't know much about them at all but how does an SX stack up against a Squier affinity? He's still got 2 of those Ursa 2's in LPB in medium scale that I've been hemming and hawing over for a while.

And EDIT - I noticed there was only 1 of those LBP Ursa 2's left and it was in 3 other carts, so I nabbed it. Sorry for taking up space in your incoming NBD thread @Sinster , I will start my own now. Hope the Squier arrives safe and sound!

I know he's low on everything right now, but the bass selection has been like this for a couple of years... I don't get it.

And to answer your question; SX blows the doors off an Affinity. SX has always been closer to MIM Standard quality, and the last one I got is even better than that. I don't think you'll be disappointed. :)

I have no problem with people going off topic. It's the flow of the conversation.

Sorry I missed this question.

That's the first place I went to and didn't see the P Bass shape full scale.

Received it Friday haven't had really much time to mess with it. I had it let it sit for 24 hours to acclimate to indoors. I have a few trees fall over in my yard and had to take care of those. So I plucked the strings last night..

I think it's a great bass especially for the price. Haven't dealt with many basses so I can't compare it to other brands.

I think the pickups in the Classic Vibe version of that bass sound top-shelf. I wouldn't change them if I owned one (and I almost did), but I've gotten the Affinity to sound almost the same with a little tweaking.

Not to hijack, but I was in a pawn shop yesterday and there was a black Ursa 3 hanging up that looked to be in great shape for $180, which I thought was a little pricey. Still, it gave me a bit of GAS. I can vouch for the quality of the SX Ursa's though. Only quibble I had with my Ursa 2 is that the pickguard was splitting when I got it, and I had to order another one from Rondo, (which I like better anyway). Otherwise, I think that bass is probably on par with the CV line and pretty close to MIM quality.

Congrats on your new bass!
