According to the seller in Italy, I am the first guy in the United States to have one of these. It arrived on Sunday and I cannot do anything with it yet because the power cable is EU and not compatible with the US. I have both a cable and an adapter on the way. I have been using a Mississippi stomp box and a foot tambourine for awhile now and I think this will take it to another level.
I am the first.......

Man, I'm not sure I could do that. I mean, I do tap my feet when playing, but I'm pretty sure my feet aren't necessarily matching the rhythm of what I'm playing lol
Still, that's a cool idea. Are you going to give us a video of you playing once you get the power adapter?

That is very cool indeed, and also doubting whether my brain might be able to manage doing both at once ( guitar and foot drums! ). In one way it reminds me of watching my Grandmother play the organ when I was growing up. She was a church organist for over 40 years and also a piano teacher. I remember sitting on the floor next to the organ watching her and wondering how in the world she could play the multiple tiers of keyboards with her hands, set all the stops and then play the bass/rhythm with her feet.

I've been using the stomp box with my right foot and and the foot tambourine on the left for some time now. I think I will be able to work with it okay. Years ago I used to sit on the drum throne play, play my guitar, play the kick drum with one foot the high hat with other whilst playing a harmonica with one of those holder thingies. It takes a little practice but I have plenty of time for that.

I think that it's really cool that he makes it out of wood instead of a bunch of plastic.
If I had something witty to say, I'd put it here.

Seems a straightforward concept. I recently had to change a peizio trigger in an edrum set and it went well.
The triggers are about $10 for a bag. Hot glue them to the insides. Wire it to a trigger module and bang, krupa's your uncle.
I think

I got the correct power cord and an adapter. Everything works fine just like the video. The kick is on the left foot and I have been used to using the stomp box with my right. I watched another series of videos of a guy building foot drums and he has sort of convinced me having the left heal as a kick and left toe as a snare with the right foot tapping the closed hi hat in syncopation with the right strumming hand is intuitive. I may reassign the triggers accordingly to see for myself. After about an hour I got used to the left kick right snare/rim shot just fine. I guess I am amphibious.

I have not had much time to enjoy the new toy. Ms Tonebender and I have been on lockdown with the Covid. A co-worker sat across from me at the conference table socially distanced but he sneezed a few times. He said he was remodeling his bathroom and the dust was getting to him. Later after lunch he started complaining about being all achy. He packed up and left but the damage was done. That was on the 15th. I did not see him again. I only work a couple days a week. On Saturday the 19th I suddenly got a fever and could feel it coming. I immediately contacted him. He said he had cold symptoms but had not been tested.
That evening the fever broke and Sunday I was fine. However he contacted me and said his 10 year old had woke up with a fever and they took him in. He had tested positive for the Covid consider myself contagious. I set up my test for Monday and self isolated with Ms Tonebender. My test was positive as well as hers. We both just suffered mild cold symptoms but the psychological effects were not pleasant. As you can imagine as soon as you know you are positive you realize there is a chance it will not end well. That thought doubles knowing Ms Tonebender is positive too.
We were lucky and it was not much to it physically for us. I may have even gained a pound. Covid really sucks. I am so glad that I have been taking zinc. vitamin D and C everyday for a long time.

Very glad to hear that you both made it through safely Jeff, scary stuff indeed. The fact that all it seems to take is an errant sneeze from way across the room to pick it up is not too comforting to realize either I'm sure. My wife's brother and his entire family is all recovering right now, his wife is a nurse and likely brought it home with her. My wife's other brother's family had it too but it didn't spread to everyone though. Seems so odd that one can get sick from one sneeze across the table, but then you can have a family living with one sick member for weeks at home and no one else picks it up.tonebender wrote: ↑Wed Dec 30, 2020 7:08 pm I have not had much time to enjoy the new toy. Glad everything turned out ok. Just wondering if you or the spreader had a mask. Even though technically the virus can get through most masks I'm thinking just catching the big globs could have made the diff.
Just keep thinking about the big globes and we may never get rid of the damn masks

The gentleman was not wearing a mask but he completed cover his face sneezed away from me into his elbow crease like you see some folks do these days. There is no stopping all those microscopic particles from escaping unless one is in a hermetically sealed suit. If you are in a room and someone sneezes, run the other way and out the door as quickly as possible. Then hope it was quick enough.
This particular gentleman is probably the most Covid conscience person I know. His son is 10 and severely diabetic. He wears a mask way more than required. We only have a small crew assigned to that office and usually there is never more than 3-4 people. We all have plenty of distance and walls between us. He came in with his mask as usual and washed his hands prior to sitting down approximately 10 feet from me. We had to go over some numbers. We mostly work from home, except me I go there three days a week, often the only one there. Just goes to show how easy it is to get.
He has no idea where he got it, but he infected me, his son and his wife. Everyone has recovered. No one else from the office was infected.

A buddy of mine is at home, sick with the coof-coof.
He's been drinking moonshine for it. Or, because of it.
At least, I think he's got the Wuflu.
He said he was stuck at home with Corona. Myself, I'd rather be stuck at home with Tecate or Dos Equis, but.....

Exactly ten days after this post, I was at home sick with the coof-coof.
The fever dreams were the only good thing about it.
Just like any other respiratory virus, it kicked my ass.
Worst part would be a tie between the coughing up blood and the searing pain in my chest when I breathed.
Then, a couple of my coworkers ended up being out with it.
One friend of mine had a really bad case of it. He ended up having to be hospitalized.
He had blood coming out both ends.
Just what we needed. Another something to get sick with.

@tonebender Hey Jeff, totally missed this thread. Happy for the great gizmo you got - love it! -! And more than happy that you and Ms. TB recovered well from C19. It´s been six months from that, but I´m really glad and happy for you.
Hoping you recover soon, @Jaymo Praying...

Well this is another thread I missed. Glad you got through the virus ok, @tonebender, and I hope you're doing alright, @Jaymo. The thing is; masks and social distancing are marginal safeguards at best, and that's all you ever hear anybody talk about. It's like everyone has forgotten that viruses are mainly transmitted through contact, and if everybody in the office is wearing a mask and sneezing into their elbows, it's not going to stop them from contaminating the copy machine, or the coffee pot handle, or any of the common surfaces/fixtures in a workplace. You don't need to come anywhere close to an infected person in order for them to infect you. You just have to touch something they touched. And I don't care how mindful you are about it, it's impossible to be conscious of what you're doing with your hands 100% of the time. Masks are only good for preventing you from expectorating on other people. I think the use of gloves would have prevented more people from contracting the virus than masks ever did.
But what do I know? It's not like I'm the science, or anything... I could likely tell you the exact opposite tomorrow...
Or maybe that means I AM the science!

Funny you mention that. When my coworker came to my house to get the parts, he had been given the wrong "spare" key for my van.
I had to get out of bed (no small feat at that moment) and go outside and unlock the van for him.
We were both wearing masks.
His first words to me were "You look like shit."
My reply, "I feel like shit."
I believe he caught it from touching something in the van that I'd touched, like door handles and parts.
It kicked his ass pretty good, too.
I had felt like I had a cold or some other respiratory bug for about a week, with none of the symptoms of Rona.
Then, the symptoms all hit me at once. The rapid Rona test came back negative. X rays came back negative for fluid in my lungs. So, the doc said I had bronchitis, not pneumonia, even though the only time I've coughed up blood was with pneumonia. The only times I've had that burning, searing pain upon breathing was with pneumonia and. Never with bronchitis.
Plus, when I have bronchitis, my albuterol inhaler is my best friend. This time it did nothing for me.
I've had both bronchitis and pneumonia many times in my life. Barely survived infanthood and childhood because of pneumonia.
It seems I lost the lung lottery at birth.
I've also had the flu more times than I can count.
I've also had fungal respiratory infections and a couple of viral respiratory infections that the doctors said they couldn't identify. Yay me.
Second Rona test came back positive for the coof coof.
I was out sick for a week, two weeks after starting my new job. Good thing I have an understanding employer.
I was weak as hell for another few weeks after, and I had no appetite during that time. Lived on hot tea and broth.
Pros: Great fever dreams.
Cons: Everything else about it.
0/10 Do not recommend.
Funny how with my shitty lungs, I didn't have it as bad as my friend who is 17 years my junior and has a lot better lungs than me.
Then again, he lives in Vegas. Could have been different strains. Could have just been the fact that it affects different people differently.
Much lower death rate than the flu, unless you're one of the ones who dies of it. Then, the death rate doesn't mean shit.
I wonder, are we now going to have flu season AND Rona season every year? Hope not. Both of them suck.
Hell, for me a common cold easily turns into an infection in my chest.
@tonebender it's been a while and hopefully all the panedmic stuff is mostly over in your neck of the woods--did you ever have an update/npd on the floor drum kit that i missed? i've love to know more about how well it works and how you're using it after the settling-in time.
