Pretty cool little amp. Looks like this one was painted or a custom color, but for $14...

Surprised at the warmth of the tone from it. Huge amount of Marshally gain on tap too.

Anyone played one of these?Image

What, whoa, wait a minute . . . did you say Marshall MG and warmth in the same sentence? That can't be. In my experience this line of Marshalls are like an ice pick in the ears. That's an 8" speaker in that model too, right?

With everything else that's been modified (tolex, grill clothe) maybe somebody also did some functional mods on this one. I think it was JimyTheAssassin who once mentioned there were some tweaks that could be done to improve these.

had same basic guts in a Lead 15 2x10. Fun little amp for crunchy tone, was especially good with my JTM Lovepedal.

Yeah, 8" speaker. I was really surprised the thing wasn't cracking my skull with shrillness.

Still playing with it, but its surprisingly warm with an LP. Did not expect that. Maybe I got a weird one?

I took a closer look at this thing, and did some internet searching and I *think* this amp is finished in a Tolex color called "purple levant", which Marshall uses/has used. The grill cloth is also a Marshall cloth known as "large check".

I can't for the life of me find where this *particular* amp was definitively issued with purple Tolex or large check grill cloth. I guess it's a bit of a unicorn then.

I don’t believe it was me. But I do think the physical mods, and the grill cloth choice specifically, have contributed to the warm tone effect. Image

I had a MG30RCD, about the same thing. No enough gain for my taste, but I miss its real spring reverb.
