Looks like I can't stop this... On this rainy morning I was trolling through Guitar Center online to see what they just got in used, and there it is.
I always thought my ideal Liquid would have 2 P90s instead of 3. And I don't have any seafoam green guitars, so this is pretty cool too. I bought it, and it is on its way. Here's one of their shots of it.
But now here's the really weird part. Last week I ran across a brand I had not paid any attention to, because it seemed a bit start-upy. CNZ Audio. But they also had a (what they called seafoam) dual P90 Jazzmasterish guitar for $249. I figured that was low enough to risk, and probably a good mod platform, and their reviews are good, so this should arrive tomorrow.
I have to wonder how 2 seafoam green surf guitars are going to manage to get along in the same room.
Edit: No Liquid on its way after all. I never got the shipping email yesterday from GC, but this morning I got an email from the store listing the Liquid telling me it was sold out from under me. That's too bad, because of the 2 guitars, the Liquid was the one I had the best hopes for. I will put up a NGD on the CNZ Audio JM tho. Maybe it will be surprisingly good.
For a whopping $114.99, they're selling an older seafoam green 2 P90 Liquid. I like my Liquids, but I already have 3. I've got a vintage white dual humbucker, a CAR 3 P90, and a LPB 3 P90. Every one of them is a stop tail, which I like, but sometimes you just want a trem too.Incoming x 2 (- 1)
That has happened to me a couple of times with them too. I got some excuse about the site inventory not being updated until the end of the day and the guitars had actually been sold prior.BatUtilityBelt wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 10:49 am

There's a new Harley Benton Jazzmaster copy in LPB that for $150, is kind of enticing but it has a TOM too:

Yeah, the GC oops, we sold it thing has happened to me before too. It's too bad. As for the HB, they're not on my radar because Thomann made my life hell for literally months over a return. Good that it has Jazzmaster pickups instead of P90s, but it's not that special to me. All my liquids are TOM + stop tail.tobijohn wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 8:34 pm That has happened to me a couple of times with them too. That's right, i forgot about your Thomann return experience. I've been fortunate, no problems with them so far but I almost always buy b-stocks because any really egregious defects are caught by the prelisting inspection.BatUtilityBelt wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 8:42 pm

I like that CNZ, and will keep an eye out to see if any show up in the Amazon Warehouse...

Can you tell if any generic aftermarket pickguards with Jazzmaster pickup form factor openings would fit it?BatUtilityBelt wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 8:59 pm
Yup, I can now recommend the CNZ JM as a mod platform. And I probably will refer to it as Gumby.

I can't tell for sure, but they are a bit differently shaped. It looks like the bridge would not work out with a standard PG, and the CNZ might be a little more narrow. I don't know about the routing yet, but if I do mod it, I will probably make its new pick guard. I do have a set of Jazzmaster pickups waiting for a project tho. Here it is next to a Squier CV.
Thans for looking. Because the Jazzmaster dimensions are slightly larger than a P90, the stock pickguard could probably be modified to take them without too much cursing:BatUtilityBelt wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 9:39 pm [

I agree. Going from P90s to Jazzmasters would be no problem, just any other combo after would require a new PG or some sort of rings.

There are jazzmaster sized p90 pickups and p90 sized Jazzmaster pickups. Someone makes them...
Sucks about the GC tease on the Liquid but the gumbycaster is cool too
