NGD LTD EC-1000 Piezo

So, this is 11 days delayed, but I sold (or traded, rather) 2 guitars for the first time in order to mostly fund this new guy. Some of you may remember my thread a month or so ago about wanting to convert my red EC-1000 to have a piezo pickup. Well, I have all the parts, but I got shy once I realized I'd have to drill into the guitar, so have pushed the project off. Well, when I was buying a used electric drum set at my local Music-Go-Round shop a month ago, I noticed that they had this beautiful blue EC-1000 with the piezo already pre-installed, plus with Seymour Duncan JB + '59 pups instead of EMG's. I ended up grabbing it; they had it priced as used despite not being owned before (must've been on the floor for a while). It only had 5 strings when I bought it, but I put new strings on guitars right away when I buy them anyways.

The toggle switch has already broken (not the solder joints), so I have a new one on the way. Otherwise, this thing just plain rocks. I like it even better than my 2010ish EC1000. There's just this little bit of feel to it that makes it easier to play... ALMOST to the level of my Schecter super strats. I'm really digging the tone.

I still need to play with patches on my Axe-FX to get the most out of the piezo bridge, but I WAS a little disappointed how everything was routed via the two output jacks and the mini toggle switch. From experimenting with one jack at a time, I thought I couldn't split the signal of magnetic and piezo pickups separately to the two jacks. However, when I was filling out the guitars specs in my database spreadsheet, I came across this diagram that showed how smart they were with the wire routing. It looks like I can do what I want using EITHER the two jacks OR a stereo cable. I'll experiment after I replace the toggle switch.

Nice! I had an EC1000, they're nice guitars. I didn't know they came with piezos! I have several EBMM's with piezo and frankly I never use it. I think their jack arrangement is a good one. Post a clip of that baby!

I'll definitely post a clip when I get to it. Once I tune the Axe FX patch for it, it should sound pretty good. I've had good success with IR's on piezo pickups on acoustics, making them sound more like a mic'ed acoustic.
