Needless to say, I love James Bond. Particularly, Connery, then Roger Moore, then Lanzenby, in that order of appreciation. My opinion of the other guys goes from much less enthusiastic to absolute contempt and indifference. Lazenby's, "Just a slight stiffness coming on," in 1969's In Her Magesty's Secret Service, to Daniel Craig's being subjected to cock and ball torture in Casino Royale, mirrors my own personal observation of the demasculinization of culture over the previous several decades.
True story: Ten years ago, the owner of the pawn shops I score my best guitar finds at was shot right behind the counter by a misfiring Walther PPK he was inspecting. The single .32 ACP bullet did one of those crazy Oswald richochets off the floor and off his lower leg bone, wounding him three separate times. It's an unfortunate example of why I don't trust pistols and personally carry a magnum revolver.
BONDAGE
The British Secret Service, employs a special man
And if you're bent on world destruction, then you may be his mission
All around the world, he's gonna track you down
For King and county, he's gonna serve the crown
When the world's in trouble call 007
He's the one we need!
Only Commander Bond can save the day
He's got an Austin Martin, a Walther PPK
He's wired in with Felix Lighter, at the CIA
He's got a way with the ladies, they like his tailored clothes
At the tables of Monte Carlo, or anywhere he goes
When the world's in trouble call 007
He's the one we need!
Only Commander Bond can save the day
People around the world shout 007
He's the one we need!
England needs you now report right away
Some prefer Lanzby, and Roger Moore is OK
I never cared for Pierce Brosnon, in Die Another Day
But when it comes to action, the choice is clear you see
There's only one 007, Scotsman Sean Connery
When the world's in trouble call 007
He's the one we need!
Only Commander Bond can save the day
People around the world shout 007
He's the one we need!
England needs you now report right away

I like the lick from the theme song at 2:41. Cool stuff.

Thanks. It's really more like a seven note melody line than a lick. I wonder if I'm legally allowed to use that in the song? More precisely, would I owe royalties to whoever owns the intellectual property?tonebender wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 4:58 pm I like the lick from the theme song at 2:41. Cool stuff.

Nice playing.
My mind goes to Dash Riprock , teaching Jethro Bodine how to be a double-nought spy.
Dash might not be in this episode.

That is weird . . . and wonderful. You just gave us the clue that the same zeitgeist that produced Sean Connery era Bond also created The Beverly Hillbillies.Partscaster wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 11:03 am Nice playing.

Observe that . . .
Sean Connery played Bond from 1962 in Dr. No until 1971 in Diamonds are Forever. (I am of course disregarding Connery in 1983's Never Say Never Again, that non-canonical Bond film which holds a very special place in my heart).
Likewise, Beverly Hillbillies was broadcast from 1962 until 1971.
The timelines overlay exactly!
"Double-Ought" would be a great name for a band. I'm calling dibs on that right here and now.

I just watched a few days ago Vick Flick sell a guitar on one if those pawn shop shows.
Who played the James Bond intro?
Vic Flick
The guitar motif heard in the original recording of the theme was played by Vic Flick on a 1939 English Clifford Essex Paragon Deluxe guitar plugged into a Fender Vibrolux amplifier. Flick was paid a one-off fee of £6 for recording the famous James Bond Theme motif. John Scott played the saxophone.
