Got the itch to get back into vinyl recently. Set up my new turntable last night, hit the record store today, and started with these.
A near mint 1979 pressing of Cheap Trick at Budokan, a 1981 pressing of Van Halen Fair Warning, and a sealed, virgin, never spun 1978 pressing of The Cars debut record. It was a good night!

Fuck yeah man!
Maybe we should set up a vinyl section to post deals and NVDs/NTTDs and stuff like this.
I'll have to catch a sunny day and try to post the collection.
If you haven't already, check out Discogs.com

A friend is huge into vinyl. He loves the ritual and the sound. I can't argue it -- it is different and pleasant.
BTW, as this takes over your life, Ikeas's Kallax is your friend.

You've got the makings of a righteous party right there. Those are three albums you can just keep flipping and setting the needle down on.sabrownfl wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 10:51 pm Got the itch to get back into vinyl recently. Tell me about it. My son just graduated college, and wanted a vinyl setup. I hooked him up, and visited the record store with him... what a flood of memories.toomanycats wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2020 12:32 pm You've got the makings of a righteous party right there. I bought my own turntable two weeks later, and I'm on the journey again.

Nice. Yeah, back in my youth I had approximately 200 LPs... started replacing them one by one with CDs when the digital revolution began. The last 40 or so got donated when my wife and I moved into our current home with our two kids. A recent visit to the record shop with my youngest son, who just graduated college, ignited a fire again. I won't replace everything I had, and I also plan to listen to new vinyl, but I'm collecting again.zisme wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2020 9:16 am Nice!!! i need to get back to ripping/cataloging my vinyl...

Awesome, welcome to the addiction! One of the silver linings about this rough situation we're all going through right now is the amount of free time I've had to spend with my record collection (and my guitars of course), really been helping to stay sane .sabrownfl wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 10:51 pm Got the itch to get back into vinyl recently. It all started with me coming across a stoop sale maybe 2-3 years before vinyl became "in" again and this guy was selling dozens of records, all pretty much near mint for $3 a piece - Zeppelin, Rush, Floyd, Sabbath, Genesis, King Crimson, Queen, etc. I asked him how much he wanted for all 60 records and he said I'd save him the afternoon of sitting out there sellin' them so $80 will do it.
Now I think I'm at about 1000 records in the collection...this is basically the music corner minus the shelves with the box sets (I know, I have a problem!).

I've been staying with my older brother the past 6 weeks and he's a vinyl junkie. He also has a ridiculous stereo system. The sound is incredible.
He also has a bunch of my LP's that I left with him when I moved to NYC.
I miss LP's but they just don't work with my lifestyle. My main stereo is my laptop and headphones. My secondary stereo is my DAP and earphones. The sound can be really good...but doesn't compare to vinyl through tube amps and into expensive speakers.

Don't get me wrong, I stream Spotify all day long, but there is something to be said for going a bit old-school.

I hear ya, it's just time with me. If all was right with the world id be laying on the floor in the dark with headphones on listing to Dark Side of the Moon on vinyl
