I worked for six months as the Recreation Specialist aboard the USS Peleliu (MWR program, contracted by DOD). I was nearing the end of my contract and lamenting the impending $450 fall hockey league fee when I returned to Colorado. The guy I was talking to said that the SD leagues ran $1500 - and they played at 11:30pm. But what ate at me the most was that it took at least an hour to get anywhere - the little knoll just on the other side of the freeway, a mall, a restaurant. Crazy.
