Can't believe i didn't start this thread in January. I'm probably forgetting some stuff but here is the latest.

Yard sale find. Nicest day out so far this year, it hit 50. Strat copy, red, looks like a cheap Squier. No decals so maybe they were sanded off? Paint was really nice so even the body was worth it.

Here's what i paid, it was sitting behind a table so maybe nobody else saw it?

Got this a few weeks ago. $1. Yup, that's the price the guy listed on Craigslist. I figured he just put that out there to attract people but he said, "No, price is $1, we are moving and it is extra to our needs". I got there and it's huge, it's a bass case. But i needed one anyway for the MIM Jazz bass i picked up last year. It fits perfect.

Gutted some cheap test equipment from a Hamfest in NJ a few weeks ago. These are TIS58 nchan j-fets. Used in the old Echoplex EP3 which was used by VH and Jimmy Page and few others. Even when the echo is turned off your guitar is going thru a preamp, not really boosting but slightly coloring your sound. These preamps were built in pedal form by Clinch FX EP3 and Exotic EP3 and some others. You really need these original parts to get the sound. Metropolus marshall web forum guys swear EVH ran dual echoplexes and these do give you one step closer to his sound on the early albums. Just had some pcb boards made so i have to build a few once i get the charge pump IC'S, they originally ran on 22volts.

Just looking at the red strat copy, i don't think it's a Squier now. Who else would use a fender style headstock, Japanese. So i am guessing it's a Japan strat copy of some sort. Laminated hardwood (not plywood) body, unplayed neck has massive fret sprout and the heal is at least 1/8 thicker than a standard fender/squier neck. May not be repairable, pretty much warped too. Tightened the truss rod but i don't have hope it will come back, end of neck goes up pretty high and bow is about 1/8". It's a 25" scale too.

Can't believe i didn't update this all year.
Picked this up, probably to flip as i am not a lefty. I am also researching wtf this is.
Kramer case, no Kramer logo, left handed. Floyd rose, lefty, original i am pretty sure, bar screws in. Just took it apart. Tuners are marked Guild, didn't remove yet. Seymour Duncan pickup DD-M, duncan distortion made by Martha. Pot date is 8403, really early for any EVH kramer. May not be a Kramer. Neckplate is marked ESP, which from what i read necks and bodies were made by a lot of manu, including ESP. No serial. Neck has adjustment on heel. Neck route is marked L692D 6964, neck is stamped 441.

Resident KRAMER expert is mia.

I doubt that's a Kramer body. More than likely it's a partscaster, and they used a Guild as a source for parts. The neck may be an ESP or a Kramer. My old Kramer neck is a 3 piece as well. My neck came from a lefty.

On the upside, that looks to be a legit old German Floyd, so that may be worth a bit.

The paint is factory and the body matches the headstock perfect. Finish cracks and all. So i doubt they are from different makers. The neck plate says ESP and like you said, the neck is 3 piece. I have found many pictures of the back of those necks and are identical to this one. As to the Guild tuners, i took them off and there is another screw hole there, so they are not original and guess were put on later, but i doubt any other parts are Guild. Floyd is from 1984 from what i can tell from the internet and that matches the pot date code. No decal and it doesn't look like there ever was one.

I have put the pictures and questions on a Kramer forum, no decisions yet but i am posting the pictures they are asking for.

Is your Kramer neck 21 or 22 frets? I'm beginning to think it was a ESP employee build. I found pictures of the same neckplate and are from ESP early 80's. I 'm gonna guess ESP made all the necks for Kramer.

22 frets.

Part of my thinking that it's a partscaster is yhe neck pocket. That has clearly been modded.

As well, 80s Kramers were mostly either maple or poplar, and that looks to me (not an expert) like mahogany.

It's a light yellow wood. Still voting no on the partscaster. The paint on the headstock matches the body and there's no way this was painted outside of a factory. I've found the 21 fret rosewood hockey neck in a 1984 ESP catalog, so I know they exist. I'm thinking employee after hours build.
There are more than 4 neck holes, some are filled with some type of epoxy, yes it looks as the neck was set closer to the bridge.
