Just restored this 1967 Ampeg, which included a rare Mercury Magnetics potting service. This is where they boil the bad transformer (in this case, the power) out of the epoxy potting, install one of their clones and then repot it. Top the user, it looks all original.
My repairs are too extensive and boring to list, but here is how she is equipped now:
- Factory original Altec 15" speaker.
- (2) Mullard 6L6 output tubes (the original RCAs were shot and ready to go catastrophic)
- (2) RCA 6SL7 and (1) JJ6SL7 preamp / inverter tubes
Sounds great and you cannot go wrong with the amp which set the standard on many Motown classics (James Jamerson) and the first 3.5 Led Zeppelin albums!
Here are some mid-repair shots:

The bassist and founding member of the Tonebenders had an Ampeg Bass Rig. I swear the lights in the neighborhood would get dimmer when he fired that thing up. It took two of us to get it up on top of the giant Ampeg cabinet.
