Anybody worked with this stuff? It's water based, and I believe it should be three parts dry filler to one part water …

My friend gave me an old Aria flamenco guitar by Matsuoka, and it needs a little TLC.
I've done a fret end filing, light recrowning and fret polishing, rolled the edges of the fingerboard and cleaned and moisturized it. Eventually I'll get around to pulling the tuners, cleaning and servicing them, but will wait until I put new strings on.

Next is replacing three missing position dots and building up two nasty gouges on the bass edge of the neck. The gouges are about 1/8th to 3/16ths deep and the same in width and length.
My plan is to slap a bunch of this Rosewood GoodFilla in there and then sand it down—can I do this in one go or should it be in layers, and how long should I let it set up before sanding?

I've never tried the stuff. I have filled small tear-outs by combining wood glue and rosewood dust with reasonable results. My belief is that as long as it is wet enough for the glue to make it into enough pores, the fill should take just fine.

I'm guessing that stuff will concave as it dries.
I'ld apply it in layers about 1/8 inch thick max, so your probably all set to just fill it, maybe 2 layers in deeper..

@Partscaster is right, it will shrink as it dries, so you may need multiple coats to get it dead flat. Or you could use Solarez, which is a UV cured grain filler that will never shrink.

Yeah, you’re right, it does shrink, even though it claims "non-shrinking " on the label … huh!
The reason I went with it is that it’s water based, and I'm working on my dining room table, so want to avoid nasty fumes and such.
Thanks for the advice. I think it'll do a satisfactory job, will post before and after pics when all done.
