In another thread, deeaa mentioned the Mooer cab simulator, which got me thinking...
My Traynor YCS50 (a fantastically versatile, under-rated, super affordable tubey goodness amp), has a D.I. with a cab emulation in it, but that emulation is old, and really doesn’t sound great... or even good, to me at least.
I think I’m going to attempt to go into my DAW from the FX send, then apply a cab IR in Reaper (and maybe a power amp VST too?) and see what happens. Anyone ever try this? Advice? Guidance? Dire warnings?
Real amp into cab sims?
Can you turn off the cab emulation and still use the DI? Going from the FX send will give you just the preamp tone which will be incomplete, although the Tranynor may be doing that for the DI as well.
Obviously you could use the speaker out with a load box like a Suhr RL-IR, Captor, Oxbox etc. but those will obviously cost a lot more than using what you already have, but give you the full amp and then add the speaker simulation or allow you to add it in a DAW.
