Got one of these on the way, and it sure looks promising. I've tried many a cab sim and IR's and they're fine and all that, but I'm really wanting to test the power amp section of this too. Maybe it'd finally be a simple one-stop-good-enough to record even solution after a decent preamp.

Just interested if someone here has one and has any insight or tips on using it to offer.

I've heard good things but never got around to trying one. Do let us know what you think.

I have one and I like it quite a bit. I have not done much recording with it but I use it to practice on head phones at home.
Currently I go from an EVH 51503 50watt into a Rivera Rockcrusher as a load box and use the line out from the Rivera into the Radar an out to audio interface and into reaper.

There is quite alot of tweaking you can do between the different cabs, mics, EQ and power amps on or off. Plus you can load IRs into if you have a favorite already.

For the size, portability and cost, I think it is a win

Hope it works for you

Well, first hour in with the Radar. Seems like it does what I expected and more.

Of stock cabs, liked a 2x12" most, and with an EL84 amp section. For mic, 57 seems harsh and Nt1 too HiFi but with the 421 found a happy medium. Adjusted the mic a bit closer to center (or was it the other way round? A bit confusing way it's presented) and gave it 3 distance and it is quite nice indeed.

Later gave it a little hipass at 80hz to tighten it up some, and cut a bit around 400hz and boosted a tad at 4K and even more at 6K, but gave it a low pass filter at 8K and that removed gritty fizzes rather excellently.

As far as sound goes, am quite happy with it, the only thing slightly odd about it to me it seems to increase/alleviate distortion component clearly.

Meaning, when I have a nice crunch sound dialed thru a real amp clean channel, (EL84 and 2x12"), when I send the pre signal to Radar with same settings, it sounds clearly more driven and saturated, downright a little compressed. Probably has something to do with the digital headroom of a very portable device...or not. No settings like amp input vol etc really change that trait.

But, so far so good! Will try to make a demo of sorts soon.

Here's a demo I did with it, first just cell phone off speakers, then a bit of our song where I quickly recorded new rhythm guitar and solo bit with it:

Also, here's a test comparison with amp miked.

First 15sec is GT8 to Mooer and Amplitube 4 mixed, the second 15 secs is my Blackstar miked with two 57's in their respective cabs, and the last one is Mooer and can mics mixed together.

I think the totally DI version is actually the best. I could maybe improve on the cab miking versions by miking a little closer to speaker edges...but just the DI stuff is so good I won't bother.
