It's no seg1 but I couldn't resist any more. Saw a few pictures and was very impressed. Reviews have been great. Haven't bought anything in awhile. $10 off and still available? Bank account is up and I felt like doing some of my fav gambling, Internet guitar roulette!
Here it is.
Not the wildest spalting but very attractive.
I have to say its damn well built. Tuned up and played great. Ran it clean for awhile and the intonation was angelic compared to most of my SX'. They really did an outstanding job on the nut and that's where SX has been basically a fail along with so many other imports. Mine still have work to do on them and still bug me enough that I don't play them as much as I want.
The FF338 had very good fretwork and the action is great. Could probably lower it but don't know if I want to.
I had work to do but it was hard to pull myself away. Nice tone, maybe great. I figure gain is where it would crap out so I went pretty loud and over gained standing right in front of it. Had to back off the bridge pup to keep from howling but then there it was. Pure Nugent controlled feedback. Could just play lines sliding up and down the A string infinitely. Somewhere around E you could actually feel blasts of air as it pumps in and out of the F hole (so nasty sounding). Its just beyond amazing for $200. I was a little disappointed it had no better fret access up around 21 but no worse either. Guess I just have to get a V to do my schenker. The only reason I could justify getting this is if it could replace a guitar or 2. It may very well let me sell off my very boring looking dot studio and possibly my johnson big body jazz box. ( I do enjoy offering to show everyone my big johnson)
Really A+ of the 338. Maybe just a B on the spalting but still plenty of looks to fall in love with. There was an argument that the spalting was drawn in with a sharpie. Well if so kudos to the artist. He must have a hell of an eye for symmetry. Its very bookmatched looking. I guess some aren't. And I'm pretty sur ethats a penis between the pickups and some wizard sleeves below.
Finally pulled myself away long enough to repair the 2 drums on my alesis Edrum set. I got the piezios soldered in and success all around. What a night. Maybe God isn't pissed at me
NGD Attracted to the light and the buzz. Couldn't resist

Something I did notice on this FF is how much tighter it seems up at the 20th fret area. I've only been doing much of this since I started covering some UFO songs and Its sort of awkward on my LP. (I'm sure it isn't because of me ) I thought this DC design would be nice to get up into the 20th. It seemed I'd lost my ability to do it and I kept getting my hand jammed up. Back on the lp it was much better. I didnt realize how restrictive it can be up there. It doesnt seem a smaller cutout up there but the thicker body seems to really impact this. I know schenker skips the whole problem on a V but it this a problem for others on trad body designs and What ones are best to get up there. My strat is a 21 fret so cant really even get one of the notes I want.
The upper fret access on the Agile 3200 series is as good as I have played, especially the AD’s, but look for any neck through design with well carved heels. Some of the modern Strats have improved access and 22 frets as well.
I don't know if it was the old board but when i got mine for $139, pulled the pickups and the glue holding the neck on was very sparse. So next time you change strings, pull the neck pickup and take a look. Titebond is your friend.

Holy crap! I remember that. May be the only guitar I remember hearing that happen. Did it glue back up ok? Mine feels overall very solid but I do hear/feel a bit of rattle unplugged. Just a crazy 1 in a million assembly line screwup I think.

Perhaps it's a 'malted' finish...

I love that they are branching out on new finishes. I want a 335 type but here in BKK the only affordable ones are Grote brand (a shop here carries thhe entire line so easy to test out) and they look nice and seem well constructed...but the finishes and colors are boring. Cherry Red, purple flame, Tobacco sunburst, etc.. I'd love some Honey Amber or Spalted, or even straight up natural....
There was nothing wrong with it, i just noticed it when it was apart. I don't really do Black Sabbath bends (children of the grave) that much. I'm betting there are a lot like this due to being cheap and assembly workers being told to use bare minimum glue. Time will tell if others have this same problem. If your's is rattling, it's the bridge, they are known to be junky and loose.

I remember someone's 338 may have fallen apart. Someone else posted about gluing the gaps. I then drowned my 338's tenon gaps in epoxy. It is bomber, now.mozz wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 8:46 pmThere was nothing wrong with it, i just noticed it when it was apart. I don't really do Black Sabbath bends (children of the grave) that much.
