Re: End of an era, no more SX in US.
SX family . all started as sx, some with neck swaps, mods, etc.. I sold a few liquids a few years back. Couple basses in the mix, on floor is a 3/4 and a 1/2 scale. IMG_0796.jpg Nice family. I like the one I pointed out; good looking. Good at playing it? sxs.png Hi Sabas, that one is one of 3 simil...

Glad i stocked up over those years. Get your Liquids while you can.
The Callisto LTD seems like a good deal for 149$...but I already butchered one of my Callisto STD + models to accept p90's.

They'll have to come out with one that also captures all the nostalgic foibles of failing tube sounds, scratchy pots, etc. Like tape decay, the old failing analog amp sounds could become sought after in SS version. For me it depends on how pristine and rich the clean sound is, as a base. Im not a pr...

I've ripped out circuit board vol tone pots on Gibsons and replaced them with 500k after 5 minutes. Me too, on 2 Gibsons that came with those plug-in pickup harnesses...adios. Maybe I was hasty, not giving them a chance,. The pickups sounded awful to me too. Double adios. Made way for beautiful hum...

FWIW, yutub settings allow for playback speed to be slowed, with no pitch change, to 3/4, 1/2, .25, and sped up too , for those who may not be snapping their teeth off fast enough.

Re: Decision on a new Gretsch streamliner
I voted for the Bigsby because I love tremolo, but I immediately reconsider cause one can get other trem type...even the GFS stoptail screw tremolo works well with little sticky pads to keep back end from being cantilevered in air on arched tops. Bigsby's do change tone..perhaps in a good way. Those...

Re: UPDATE: Must be some type of illness...
Andrewsrea, have you ever used the Weber "A" suffix models. I'm not referring to A for Alnico, but the lettering often at the very end. I believe "A" refers to the "curved seam" and ribbed cone. It is the early 60's Jensen style seam, I believe. For example: There is a...

Kingsley Page TS: FOA boost/pre amp switchable option too. Has a 12ax7 tube in it, and 3 knob EQ, gain, volume, high and low 3-way switches, and knob that can be modulate as to how much EQ section can be lifted out of circuit with "MORE" EQ-Lift stomp button. Wow. From just clean boost, to...

Would that be from a more traditional southern folk than the more northern Lapp Lander tradition ?
I'm guessing so.

Re: It's only uphill one way - what do you do for exercise?
Cross country skate skiing is the best exercise I've found, arms legs pumping at same time, lungs and heart get worked. And all the balance muscles are at work. Plus, its still skiing, so you get the fun glide moments in between the work zones. I need to go several times a week and then the fit fee...

Re: It's only uphill one way - what do you do for exercise?
I'm on my feet doing house renovations and building, 5 days a week. I'm not a contractor so much as a sub-laborer. I also go ski pole running on mtn bike trails in the woods, 3-5 days a week. These trails have a good mix of terrain , flat, up/down. My runs usually last from 35-50 minutes depending o...
