Re: RIP Alec John Such
I had always heard that Tony Bongiovi definitely helped them out in the beginning. Only Bon Jovi story I have is that I saw them on tour as opener for Ratt on the Invasion Of Your Privacy tour in 1985. They had it together even then, and definitely pushed Ratt as a live act. In fact, their set was m...

Re: I am NOT a Garth Brooks fan.......
Never cared for him as a singer, but I agree he's a pretty cool performer. I also pretty much like his choice of covers historically. He's a rock and roller at heart, IMO.

Re: WTB: Crate Volume Pot
Hack #2: - Same but use a short-shaft with solder lugs. - Solder lead wires to the pot. Use enough lead wire so that your pot will mount to the chassis when assembled. - Solder the other end of the leads to the PC board - Reassemble and affix the pot to the chassis with the pot nuts. Hope this help...

Oldest son is a huge F1 fan. Red Bull. For Christmas the past 2 times it's been held, we've bought tickets to the Austin race for him and he's had a blast both years. And yeah--those drivers are very talented. And crazy nuts to do that.

Re: WTB: Crate Volume Pot
The Crate chassis i have has 1/8 pot shafts. Yours looks like 1/4" d shafts. Have you tried spraying cleaner in there? Yeah, I sprayed the heck out of them. I think the wiper went south. The other pots all perked up, but that one was a problem. No worries mozz. Appreciate you checking! I may s...

Thanks Mozz. I didn't see anything on SB, but I will ask. And if you find something in your bag of tricks, let me know. I'll be glad to pay shipping and whatever.

Re: SX Ursa--Dropped in SD Quarter Pounds
I did just that with a short scale and QP's. After listening to friends SX short scale, still with original pups, I went back to stock pups. Perhaps I didnt try the QP's long enough to dial them in. I'm not a bass player much. I thought the originals had a clarity I lost in th QP's. But the QPs wer...

HNGD!
Lots of folks reverse the switch plate. That is, unscrew it, swap the pot and volume control locations, and flip the switch around, and then put the control plate back on so the switch is at the "bridge end" of the guitar instead of the "neck end".

Re: Favourite Lesser Known Songs
Here's one from Eric Carmen's old band, Raspberries. Huge Who influence. Carmen actually described it as "my love letter to the Who". https://youtu.be/jgmqt47MOjs Probably in my top 5 Kinks songs. Listen closely as the song winds up and you can hear Dave (or somebody) whooping and hollerin...

SX Ursa--Dropped in SD Quarter Pounds
Have had this bass for about 10 years, but have been playing it weekly in a P&W setting, and although I liked the sound of the "upgraded" pups that Rondo put in this model, I was not totally happy with the output from the bridge specifically, and was hoping to get a bit more oomph from...

Re: CRATE Cronies
I just picked up a Crate XT15R over the weekend. I have never owned a Crate other than to flip a couple over the years, but this little amp has a great clean channel, and usable OD circuit as long as you don't go overboard. I'd say for a practice amp, these are worth considering if you're looking fo...

Re: Discovering James Williamson and The Stooges Raw Power album
Iggy remixed Raw Power from the shrilly Bowie mix a few years ago. It's much heavier, and not as grating. But that treble overkill was part of the original charm of that album. Williamson was a bull in a china closet. Rampaging guitar work on that record.

Re: Speaker Selection for a Frontman 15R/25R Conversion
Just my personal opinion, but I would go with a 1x12". It will sound great with that amp, and probably tame some of the highs, and you won't have to worry about the speaker wattage. Just match the ohms and go to town. I put a couple of 75 watt speakers in my 5 watt amps, and they sound great.

This is especially interesting to me, because I will soon be playing my first outdoor gig in years, and I'm a little concerned about volume. Happy to hear the Classic 6 served you well! I'm guessing you didn't have a hard-hitting drummer, though! @redman I played a gig with the 5W Marshall SL-5C (a...

VHT Classic 6 In Action
Our P&W guitarist needed a small amp for our outdoor service today. I brought my little 6 watter for him to use. These amps have a 12" speaker, and this was the first time it's been gigged. Have to say it was plenty loud, and sounded great. Had the volume about nine o'clock--or about 4. Pla...
