Anybody here using wireless?

I have been pondering a wireless rig for a little bit.. like maybe a Joyo 2.4 ghz rig. Anyone using any? I get tired of sorting cables.

I sometimes use wireless, but more often just cable up, all for home studio playing. It doesn't seem any more convenient to go wireless most of the time. Only if I'm going to play somewhere the cable would be in the way. I went cheap to try it out, with these: SWIFF units. They don't sound quite as good as a decent cable, which is one of my reasons for using them less.

I use a Line 6 G10 when I'm playing live. I like going wireless on stage because it's one less thing to step on or trip over, and it lets me run around and do the rock star thing. I've noticed no difference in sound quality between wired and wireless with the G10.

I wouldn't bother for home noodling or rehearsal, though.

The one I saw was a cheapy off AliExpress, but I came away impressed.

I agree that cables make sense, but they are also a pain.

We use an Xvive at practice because we switch the bass between two us regularly. One less cord on the floor.

I did wireless for quite a while back in the day. Then it was a module on the amp and pack clipped to the strap with a cable to the input of the guitar. Then I graduated to a Sampson that was still a module that needed power on top of the amp but the other in was a little module that plugged into the guitar input that ran off a battery. These days I rarely use it but I have a cheap rechargeable system off of Amazon that is just two little modules for each end. I like it fine but never use it. I have an Xvive in ear monitor system that I like fine too, but just have not gotten completely used to it.

I have an 80's Samson Dual Diversity, which was pro-analog wireless for the day. It still works reliably, still sounds the same and is in waiting on my main pedal board. That said and like @BatUtilityBelt mentioned, a good cable sounds better. I used to forego the better sound for convenience when I gigged out a lot, but no longer do.

I've used various new tech digital and recommend buying new and buying name brand if tone is a concern. There is latency (a perceivable delay in sound from when you pick) with the 2000-2012 era of digital wireless.

I use the Line6 2.4 GHz version. I have a G90 in my main rig (Axe FX III rack) and a G50 mounted to the bottom of my FM9 board with antennae mounted on top. I have a total of 4 body packs. After almost 9 years of pretty heavy use, the connections on the packs are a bit beat up. It's worked very well 95% of the time, though

I'm thinking of upgrading to a better system, but don't know what that is yet. I like having multiple body packs, but I probably only need 2 since my focus has shifted to the original band I'm in now.

@Rollin Hand: Mossman (Ed) and I both got a Lekato WS-80 2.4 Ghz units about 2 years ago (there was a promotion back then, basically 2 for one, so Ed got one and gave me the other).

Budget units, of course, and I´m careful to not let them drop or anything, although they´re not thin paper either, just being careful with them.

I don´t think I can tell the difference between an average and a premium cable or average and premium wireless system since all I´ve ever used is low to average equipment, but they sound good to my ears, and compared to the old cables I had, I think they sound the same.

I´m definitely happy with the convenience and ease of use, freedom of movement. Of course, I only use them at home, in the same room, and they work perfect. I just once did test some distance and went to the other room and outside and they still worked well.

How long will they last, or how long will the battery retain more than 4 hours of continuous use? I don´t know. It's been around 2 years since we got them, and they're still lasting the same amount of time before needing to charge up.

In those 2 years I haven´t played regularly; sometimes I played all week, sometimes not. Sometimes haven´t even played in months, so I think they don´t accumulate too many hours of use, at least not 730 continuous days, but they're still going strong to this day.

I think the Joyo and Lekato and Getaria and other units are basically the same gadget under different names; you have 2.4 and 5 GHz option. There are many to choose if you just want to try them for a while without spending too much.

So, for me, they have worked very well and I´m very pleased with the convenience of use. Haven´t played much really for the last 3 months, though.
