Jimi is like some alien culture is trying very hard to communicate with us.
Not kidding, or trying for humor here, this is exactly what I felt, watching a few minutes of this video.
We will never know.

The other farm cats didn’t super love him but the chickens thought he was alright so he became a chicken.

The link isnt working for me. I do have the dvd. (Thank goodness)
I agree that he has a far out perspective. I think of him as other-worldly.
His songs often communicate as if from some fluid heavens, a perspective seeing through the veil of our rigid mindsets.
Quantum physics is pointing similarly. Non-local and non-temporal characteristics underlay our material world.
From the tiniest compressed existence through everything in the biggest spread the universe can occupy, there is a shared state of Being that Jimi plugged into more than most pop guitarists. His lyrics are so often such beautiful poetry.

"The man that hath no music in himself, nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds, is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils. The motions of his spirit are dull as night, and his affections dark as Erebus. Let no such man be trusted."

One of my past Christmas presents was a book of reproductions of his hand-written lyrics drafts, on all kinds of paper. Quite interesting.
Spouse found a used copy of a JH biography, "Room Full of Mirrors". Rough childhood she said. I need to steal it from her.

"Good Heavens!"
Where's my smelling salts? I feel faint.
