I've always thought of the Zither as being a first cousin to the Autoharp that Maybelle & Sarah Carter used to play in country music.
I think the only time I'd ever actually heard a Zither was on the movie soundtrack to "The Third Man."
At least until today when I heard Paul Simon's "Sounds of Silence" played on a Zither. WOW!!!!!!!
