We have tickets to Judas Priest/Saboton next week, which is my son's first concert. He and my wife are big Saboton fans, but I'm trying to convince them to stay for Priest. From what I can tell, they still have a Glenn Tipton cameo. Richie Faulkner has taken over in the guitar department and they are even playing Painkiller again. Likely the last time we'll have a chance to see them. Not my favorite band, but I respect them a lot. I'll post some pics after the event.

When I read the thread title, I was expecting your son to be on stage. :)

I wish. After being all into drums for a couple of years, he has no current interest in making music. He didn't even join band this year and preferred phys. ed. and typing class.

Sounds like fun and hope you can get them to stay for Priest too! I will freely admit I had to Google Saboton as I have never heard of them ;-)

Even if the full band isn't there for Priest, Halford can still rip pretty good from what i've been told.

I am soooo looking forward taking my son to hs first show. I hope he goes for rock, but if not, so be it.

I know he digs Mammoth WVH, so there is hope.

That's very cool, my son and I went to his first show (Coheed and Cambria) about a week ago, and he was really jazzed, as its one of his favorite bands. And they were really good live :-)

Enjoy the show!

My kids first was nickelback 15 or so years back. Possibly with jerry cantrell opening. Both were pretty good. A few years ago we went to see RHCP. Recently he got me into royal blood so his tastes seem on track.

My 3 sons' first concert was Motley Crue/Alice Cooper. I'm taking my oldest to Metallica in November.

Well, almost two months later and I'm back. Getting into the concert was an ordeal in itself. The venue required a negative covid test for unvaccinated folks (my 12 year old) and we didn't get his result by the time we had to leave for the concert. We went ahead anyway and fortunately, they had a quick test site there and gladly paid the $40 for the test. We missed the first couple of Sabaton songs, but could hear them just fine. They played a 45 minute set which was pretty good and my son was loving it. We stayed for Judas Priest as he was riding the high of the live performance. Priest came on and it was unbelievably awesome, but my son was getting physically ill from the sound level and we had to leave. Our car in the parking garage down the street from the venue was vibrating so much from the music that the mirrors were almost unusable. Truly the loudest concert I've ever witnessed. I would have stayed if I could have.
