what's your pick thickness?

I really love the Dunlop Tortex 0.60 picks. I do keep a thicker pick around for heavier sounds occasionally but nothing competes with the 6 as my go to.

How about your taste in picks??

That's a loaded question right now. It was 1.0 with my custom Tortex Sharp picks, but I'm switching to the Jazz picks (1.38). I like the standard Jazz picks with the Max Grip feature, but you can't get those custom. I've been trying Tortex Jazz, which are alright, but I got the jumbo, and I'm liking the smaller pick size.

I’m with you on the Dunlop .60 (and have been for some 15+ years now) but I prefer the Gray nylon grip Picks to the Tortex. Lately I bought some Dunlop picks labeled fender in .73 and they are just a nudge stiffer but they still feel good.

For 20 years I used a super thin nylon but as I got better i went up to 50 the 60 or 70. I like 1.0 slot. I better as i bought 200 of them. But .8 can work ok for me. I've experimented with 2.0 or metal even and I suspect I could move to that size but it would take some
relearning. I also use a lot of credit card pics with my pick punch. They are a little thin for me as most are around .60 or .75 but they are ok.
I found as i sped up (and I'm still not very fast) the thin pick was too floppy and it slowed me down. Is there anyone more to the sheedy side speedwise that used a thin?

Fender heavy is my preference these days. For acoustic I like the white Dunlop nylon thins.

That said, during my shred days, I liked Fender thin. A lot. I kept breaking the tips of the picks though. Maybe I should try those again....

Yeah I think those fender thins are 0.5. Doesn't take me but a quick second to crack those, and also haven't re-tried in years.

I did use ULTRA thin (like 0.15) brass picks for a while. It does give you a ripping tone, but it's hard to track in the studio comes off thin and it literally eats holes in your strings.

Also did the V picks thing for a while. I quite liked them at the time, but the thickness kind of hurts my thumb after a while. Also they make that CHIRP CHIRP sound every time the pick touches a string.

That was also back when I was messing with a Parker Fly. The steel frets also go PLINK PLINK every time a string touches one. So combined with a V pick, every single note was CHIRPLINKRIIIIIIIING.

As far as I recall there's no chirp from flat picking. My pick is almost always at an angle though, so I got more chirps than not

Dunlop Big Stubbies, with Monster Grips on both sides—I put a 1.00 (red), a 2.00 (middling blue-ish) and a 3.00 (purple) on my music stand along with my iPad and my Kindle Fire (with Remuda app to run Mustang III).
That way I'm covered for whatever guitars I take to the gig and whatever style of tune gets called. I primarily use the 1.00 for strumming.

Ridiculous maybe but I have some of those prime time picks too and they're niiiiiice.....

I've tried sooo many picks over 30 years of playing including V-Picks, Gravity, wood, metal, all shapes, all sizes, all thicknesses, and even those monster thick suckers... I've settled on standard Fender sized Planet Waves Cortex picks 1 - 1.5 mm. They feel the best, sound the best and last the longest for me anyhow.

I actually liked v-picks but I'd wear a notch in one after playing just one set at a gig. My picking motion just destroys those types of picks (same with Gravity).
