I agree with everything you said except this. This is not true. I've only been here for maybe 5 years or so, but you've been adding things for at least that long...
I appreciate your kind words aullucci i. For a while there I was good for at least 2-3 (or more) NGD per year, with some pics and review type info on them. Same, if less, for some other gear. I have multiple pieces of gear I never really posted up, mainly because of life getting in the way and some ongoing personal stuff.

I still love this place. I was going to visit a hand surgeon to see what he could do for my left thumb joint - to see if maybe I could resume playing. Then the covid nonsense hit and sidetracked that idea.

Now for the part that I'm not happy about.

The spam continues. Averaging 3 or 4 spam emails daily.. Arrrgh. Is this new site also going to get "sold" along with my email address again?
This thought has me holding back on what I might contribute as everything at the last site was apparently up for grabs, including all of the data
gleaned through the old site via data mining.

I started a thread in the pedals section about an old multi fx pedal from the late 60's now fetching up to 6K. Not one reply. I deleted it.
If there is one thing that will keep me away from a site, it's a thread I've started that gets no replies.
I hate I missed the pedal thread. Stuff can slip through the cracks. I loved all your nature posts from your new home on the old agf. What a fantastic place you found to live!

I’ve been a member since December 2007, and I seem to remember back then; if you liked a thread or post then you had to literally say *thumbs up* or “bump for block inlay”. I’m primarily using Tapatalk to read this forum and there is no “like” option available like on the website. I used to Like posts regularly anytime i read them. I want to like things and encourage participation (and say hey good work and I read this!). Still, times have changed and I don’t want to revert to posting one liners instead of clicking a “like” button. I know it always gave me encouragement too when I saw likes coming in. It’s a trivial thing but it makes a difference. So if possible, please look into the Tapatalk side of things too. You may not see my likes but you should all know I’ve liked everything and written it on your posts in invisible ink!

The good news on Tapatalk, the forum looks virtually the same for me. I know it’s an acquired taste but some of us are using it. Honestly Tapatalk has increased my usage of AGF. I’m glad it’s supported. Thanks for the hard work and time spent. I’m still overdue for hitting the tip jar.

So ya it’s slow here. I can tell you I haven’t posted much but it’s not for lack of love. I do have a lot of material to post that was saved from the jaws of MOMO and just haven’t gotten around to reposting it yet. Soon hopefully. I agree that TDPRI and TGP gets more traffic, but quality counts too and this place has quality.

I think that is just part of the territory of generically being male. My most frequent mail spam has to do with "Hot Asian Women".

I have tried to read and like posts and make some comments - as well as in my BJ thread - but my internet is not helping really. Can´t stay steady for a minute, it´s so frustrating. I´ll try to catch up later, I guess.

Man oh MAN when I think about all the stuff I had on the old AGF forum. It was a LOT.

Like the others, I'm SUPER grateful for you guys putting this together so quickly.

So new AGF:
I wish there was a dark theme.
I wish there was a "safe" area that wasn't crawled by bots.

It's like someone burned our house down and some amazing g friends built us a new one. Very comparable. Quite nice but you miss the old one. It's a different neighborhood and view. Maybe better in some ways even but it still doesn't have the marks on the door showing the kids heights. We liked our old furniture but even our old clothes and pictures burned up. And the family got out alive but how many friends will we never see again because they'll never find the new house.
Then there is the covid and economic meltdown. Half the people are working double time ducking a disease the other half are out of work and depressed.
The elephant in the room is that the old site was winding down way before the pandemic. We all have most of what we want and more people selling than buying.
I find myself drifting away to places like squiertalk as I get a similar feeling to here but much more traffic. I'm so desperate I'm arguing politics with relatives on crapbook.
The missing history really hurts. I hate that people are deleting it at the momo site.
A dark theme may be nice but frankly it works now just fine and I'm just so tired of almost all so called progress not only a step backwards but an outright shit show. I dont want to risk it.
I'm doing my best to keep posting something interesting just to be worthy of the amazing work the builders did here but it's starting to feel like an empty palace and it makes me sad.
Ps I love mod threads. Cant believe I missed one. Do more.

For those of us that have been here since the beginning, 12-14 years, is there anything about guitars that we don't know? Lol. Seriously though, my thirst for knowledge has kinda petered out, and it seems our conversations are starting to repeat themselves.

That just might be me though.
We. Desperately need new blood. Some women and diversity would be nice too. Maybe some fun learning 16 yr olds and some newly gigging 20 yr olds would be great. A whole new group to argue tonewood with.

Well that is quite obvious. Several times I had considered a thread similar to this but I did not want to come across as negative and ungrateful and most important was concerned about the possibility of hurting the feelings of all the nice folks that put this new site together. Those herculean efforts to find a new placeholder are truly appreciated by all of us. But like Thomas Wolfe said..."You can never go home again". Our home is gone. This new house is different. Some of us have mentioned resistance or difficulty with change. Some of us have seen dramatic changes to our lives and how we go about our daily activities. The word Trauma comes to mind. I still show up. I occasionally will post but this Forum reminds me of the movie The Stepford Wives. I also prefer the dark mode but I fear this may turn out to be one more thing that goes to the Vapors. May my haunting suspicions be totally incorrect and this forum thrive and become more than it ever was but... We lost our "Stuff". All the stuff that bound us. Members come and go but the old forum was a piece of musical history. A reference site as already stated.

I posted on 4 or 5 Forums but for some reason I posted more on AGF than anywhere else. Lots of fantastic characters. Many flamed out and went to the Vapors. Many just slowly stopped coming. Perhaps the deconstruction was foretold. I have sold most (not all) of my gear and I rarely look for new stuff anymore. I have lost that enthusiasm. That spark. Boy am I depressing.

I will probably continue to visit for short periods with a few posts but it makes me a little sad every time I visit. PLus I HATE clowns so keep them away!
Well said.

OK I've got no issues with the color scheme it is what it is. If you "need" the dark skin find out what it costs and pay the man for it. Size of avatars big but what is stopping you from making yours smaller?I'm getting no spam but they deleted me and my content at momo. Lack of content compared to the old site? Repost as much of yours as you remember only way to get it back and keep a personal backup so you always have it. Simple But it requires you do something other than bitch and whine about what is different. I at least went through reposting some of my gear doing that. belleswell I missed your pedal post because I have no real interest in them, however I'll always notice and comment on your photography. And yes tight as my money is I did kick in some for whats been done.

It was the strong sense of community that hooked me from a simple search for Washburn guitars - there was a thread on the old AGF, and that’s how I lucked out!
Speaking of which, jwguitars didn’t come over. I seem to remember him posting a lot of Washburn guitars. I was on the old site for about 2 years. I have noticed much less music being posted and much less responses to new posts and (please don’t be offended) they occur only if it is a conversation involving more of the more tenured folk. I still come and look every day, but there isn’t much to look at. I posted a new used amp day and I think one comment came through. Old days.....it would be on the page for a few days. The Spark Amp post was ongoing for months and that was nothing compared to ongoing jokes, tennis, boobs (always a favorite, apologies to any females here but we are what we are) which filled in around builds, gear, sales, etc....and I miss posting my photo. I cant seem to get it on here no matter what I do to the old pic to try to get it under the memory limit
AnotherJim I found a website for jwguitars and sent him an email. He replied today and said he will be here soon. :D

As most have expressed, I´m also very grateful to the new home builders - and supporters -. Big work done here!

Yes, it´s different. I needed some time to get used to it, too. Still do.

Improvements will come in time, I guess. I miss some easier things to do like in the old site, particularly just quoting some lines of a big text, not just the whole text. You can get to do it, but not as "point-and-click" as in the old site. But that´s ok. It´s called change.

For the last 2 or 3 years we´ve been "adapting" to a new - and unpleaseant - reality here, that for me "changing" is an everyday style of living. I´m now just "adapting" to this new place, with the big difference that this is for good - keeping old friends together, sharing our common things, etc -.

But I think this has mainly to do with all the ongoing things everywhere: pandemia, (lost-endangered) jobs, people getting sick, home schooling, etc etc. I still come here for some time "out of the box". I force myself to play, because I know that it always makes me feel good, even though I don´t feel like "playing" at the moment.

I think we all need time. To adjust ourselves to the new AGF reality, and to our new life reality. I´m afraid, though, that things won´t be the same anymore. We´ll see in 6 months from now where are we.

I´m glad the internet hasn´t failed for the last hour. It gave me the chance to write here.

Just one last words: we are AGF. Somewhat beaten, but we´re here.

Grateful to have sabas around. That whole region, Venezuela, Little St James, Haiti...will heal in time. One day at a time.

I think this place is great mainly because most all of the regulars came over. But in the long run forums need new blood or things get stale. Not sure how we attract other like minded musicians or just cool people

New blood is critical. We bought all our crap but we love to help enable a newbie. One of the best ways to attract new people is the millions of informative posts.

That are gone now.

I say if anyone got any kind of decent scrape from the old system to just dump the text here. I know I would have never bought my sx or agile online without the 1000s of detailed, nitpicky, mostly positive reviews here.

Just to note. New posts page is down to only 4 threads. And one is this self referential one here.

Maybe at least force the system to show a full page of activity?

Right now, a few minutes after you, my New Posts result is 26 threads.

Edit - And this morning it is around 7. Must be based on time since last page refresh, or similar.
