So we’re all together on the guitar front. Be that which ever genre you choose, we’re still united.

However! What else gets your motor going? Hobbies, collections, whatever!

For me I am a big gun nut, 1637 Ming Dynasty Archery enthusiast, and I like to break out my camera!

Pictures to supplement posts are a plus!!

How exactly does one get in to 1637 Ming Dynasty Archery?
pretty cool - just rather niche? i guess

Becoming a dad last year cut my hobby time way down. guitar is pretty much it right now.

Lately my main activity is listening to music. Hanging out on various forums.

I feel like I'm spinning my wheels, waiting for life to start again. But I also know I have to start doing stuff, even if we're still in this pandemic.

I honestly don’t know how the archery thing happened! It just did. I’ve always liked archery, and I’m a big history nerd, so it just kinda fit. At this point I’ve met in person and digitally, other practitioners from all around the country and world. It’s a pretty cool community really. Plus a great skill to have!
Congrats on becoming a new dad!!

I hear you! Luckily I have the space at my house to keep my other interests going. When the pandemic is behind us, what’s your first move?

I'm a photographer, would like to quit the corporate world and make it my prime job, but it's a tough game with digital and all these Instagram 'photographers' with their slanted horizons and blown out highlights.

I also fly model aircraft,

Used to race cars too.

Great!!! Can you share some of your images? I’d love to see them!

This was my favorite pic from 2017 -

I’m not the greatest at waterfalls, but I do enjoy shooting them!

Came across this young Elk Bull at the same park I got the above waterfall. I have some REALLY cool footage of a massive Bull from that day as well.

This is a still from the video that day. Big lens on. Definitely don’t want to get close to these guys. They can kill you pretty quickly when in rut.

Those pictures all look backwards... Did you shoot them with a left-handed camera?

(ok, last lefty joke, I promise! :) )

I'm just viewing these on my phone, and they look beautiful! What exposure time did you use for the waterfall shot?

Great photos brentona :)

I'm supposed to be going to Iceland with Nikon in January, with a focus on landscapes. I've not quite managed to 'get' that genre just yet.

Not so dangerous when they aren't rutting, but you never know which way they will go when they are! Always a 500mm in season for me!

I have fancied myself as a bit of a pitcher-taker myself, though I am starting to lose my eyes... a few lucky captures:

Keep em comin!!! Haha!

As far as exposure on the landscapes, I shoot at three levels and stitch them images over top each other.
So one a 0, +2, and -2 always on 100ISO.
The program I use is called Photomatix. It’s a technique called HDR and allows me to get true colors on a budget body. HDR has its advantages but a lot of times people over do it and the images look too fake!
Thank you for the kind words :-)

Not sure yet.
First, I'm not sure if this will ever be "behind" us. I come from a medical family (dad and both older brothers are MD's), and their guess is that this novel coronavirus is here to stay.

That being said...let's pretend it will go away:
I'll have to decide whether to stay here in San Antonio. Buy a condo. Work part-time. Start a band. Do photography and video. Maybe go back to school.

Or whether to continue with my original plan for 2020, which was to do extensive travelling overseas. I wanted to start with a 5-6 month backpacking trip through SE Asia (Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam). Then, I was thinking of a long trip through Mexico and Central America.

Obviously, that has all been put on hold for now.

I am hunkered down at my mom's house for now. She passed away last fall, and we are just now starting probate and I am one of the executors. When that is all done, I will have to make my decision.

Amazing photos Rich! I've become completely nuts about birds and would love to get into birding as a hobby.

Edit, I also gave you a follow on IG a moment ago.

In a word, motorcycles. I am working my up to growing a garden. I was still working this spring and did not have the time but next spring I plan to grow a few veggies. Along with that will come canning. I've dabbled successfully with canning pickles in the past and this time I hope to grow the cukes as well.

What do you do for work that allows you to travel for a year? And are they hiring?

I coach 13U travel baseball

I also like to hunt and fish, but I haven't had time due to baseball in a couple years. I have a bass boat that hasn't seen water in at least 2 years.
