Hello. I am writing to you from sunny Amelia Island, Florida.
I am burnt like a lobster.
On Saturday, back in chilly Colorado, my band played a private party at very, very large house in the mountains (owned by a hand surgeon). We played alright, I guess. It's been a year since we played in front of anyone. I feel that we were all nervous and therefor searching for the "one" beat that James Brown was insistent upon.
Anyway... Here are a few clips from the gig. Spanish Moon might be the easiest progression ever (and I play it wrong) but it's a good groove. None of us are very good and I am coming to the realization that I am becoming a better bassist than I am a guitarist. I have some sweet "bass faces" going on.
Gig on Saturday

Sounds great! Wow, what a beautiful place to have a gig. Are you still in Amelia Island? I have an acoustic gig Friday in Homosassam Springs if you are in the area, you an sit in. I will be at the Monkey Bar 7-10. It is on the water and there is a very small island in the middle of the inlet that is actual a sanctuary for several monkeys. They have a cool tree house and all kinds of swings , ropes and such. The patrons can enjoy the bar festivities and watch the monkeys.

@tonebender Unfortunately, we leave Friday morning. I have been having a great time so far but can handle three hours (max) at the beach before I start looking for other things to do.
I would love to come see you play but I'll be heading home to Colorado and my pup. You should post your set list.
This is my first time in the Atlantic. I went big.

Awesome!
setlist for the Monkey Bar Friday night. This will be the first time I have opened with Take It Easy for my solo act. It was always the "go to" opener for the band.

What an eclectic list! I don't think that I've heard many of those (or I don't know the names). Either way it works. As an audience member I like to hear a variety of tunes - not pummeled with the same old favs for two hours. Some variety is nice.tonebender wrote: ↑Wed May 28, 2025 4:18 pm

The gig was awesome. The location is on the water. It was the night before party for the 5th Annual Florida Cracker Women's Fishing Tournament. There must have been 300 hundred people there. The staff told me and my cajon player that we "KILLED IT!"

That's such a good feeling. I have only felt that way once, many years ago after a gig with a previous band.tonebender wrote: ↑Sat May 31, 2025 12:03 am The staff told me and my cajon player that we "KILLED IT!"
