I think @andrewsrea was talking about experimenting with solid state power amps with a tube pre-amp when I saw him last?
I haven't been sleeping much to my daughter being 3 weeks old, so maybe I heard wrong.

What I did mention ws that Fuchs released their ODH recently that basically makes a Dumble ODS in a small form factor.

I think Andy actually needs to get someone else to demo these amps, because the few demos I've heard so far were underwhelming.

I've VERY often used a tube preamp of sorts in conjunction with SS amps as well as modelers and plugs.
For a long time I used a simple tube preamp in front of Amplitube, and like right now I have a Tube Pilot in the loop of my Boss modeler, giving some extra warmth there.

We were discussing analog front-end with an adjustable Class D output amplifier.

The Fuchs is interesting, but it is far from Dumble ODS. Way too bright, missing the mid-range harmonics and big Hi-Fi cleans. It may have been his recording, playing or all the above. But, it is cool that someone is going down that path.

It seems he's got Jazz Fusion people playing it in these two demos @andrewsrea. Which isn't to say it's bad, but it's not really a style I listen to or enjoy all that much.

Not a bad sound. Just not an ODS. Your'78 Princeton will be able to match, if not better that last video tone.

BTW: the can filter cap for that is due in tomorrow. After I install it, I need to stich up the boost and the negative feedback mods and it will be ready to play!
