I have been seeing a lot of friends and fellow musicians using IEMs lately and decided to try them out. I purchased the Xvive system and settled for the ear buds that was packaged up with them by Sennheiser. The buds are just single driver and proved to be inadequate. They did not have any bass response and everything was really "tinny". I should have researched them before making the purchase but live and learn. After consulting with some friends I got a set with drivers sold on the Amazon site and they are really good. They were cheap too.
I am not sure I will use them with the band but I will give it a shot and see how it works. I plan on using them for the acoustic solo thing. Sometimes the Bose is positioned where I cannot hear it that well and I like to really have my vocals in my face (or ear). I tried so ear monitors many years ago and did not like them but the technology has come along quite nicely.

Because I browse so much gear online, there is an ad I see everyday for an IEM system. I don't play out live but while I can see where they would be useful, I would still like to have a stage monitor pointing at me if I did. Having said that...I have never tried them and speak only from my earbud experience but as you've said they have really progressed to current day tech.tonebender wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 5:31 pm I have been seeing a lot of friends and fellow musicians using IEMs lately and decided to try them out. I really didn't think I liked them until I actually tried them in a full band setting. I liked them a much more when our sound guy set up a room mic in order to hear the crowd a bit.

I typically must wear one and I think with the band that will help me with hearing the crowd and since we don't mic up much anymore I can hear the bass, drums, other guitar. I just really need them to hear my vocals and one ear works.
