Hot one today in the mountains (90 degrees). What better way to end the day than walking to the end of the street and sitting in the Yampa River with Finn.
'Hope you guys are staying cool, too.

90 degrees 'is' a cool day in Thailand. But I wouldn't be jumping into the Chao Praya river in Bangkok at any temp !

You are lucky to have such a swimming hole. At the beach the water is warm and there are sharks. The rivers and lakes are loaded with gators. Thank goodness for AC at the humble estate. I treat this time of year as if it were a harsh winter. We do not ride the motorcycles much and I do not play outdoor gigs. Hunker down and wait for fall, winter and spring. When I was younger I would power through but at 66 the heat has more of an effect on me.

Yeah, we've got it pretty good. There's a bear in the vicinity but it doesn't come out during the day.tonebender wrote: ↑Sat Jul 13, 2024 2:52 pm At the beach the water is warm and there are sharks. The rivers and lakes are loaded with gators.
Until the water drops and warms up (producing algae), it's crystal clear and the perfect temp for a dip. Finn and I just got back from a two-hour hang at the same spot playing ball almost the entire time. I think that I actually tired him out this afternoon - which doesn't happen very much.
He, the cat and I are living it up unsupervised while the wife is in NY visiting her mother (read: we're bored).
I don't know if anybody cares, but here's a 1:45 clip of just how peaceful it was last evening. I just set up the camera and let it roll for a bit. I'll do stuff like this from time-to-time and save it for the winter to remind myself that warm days will eventually arrive. Last year was an especially long one.

It's not all great up here. Town is a nightmare: the weather's cooler than in Denver, Art in the Park is this weekend and the weekly big Saturday night Rodeo is in full swing. All bring people here in droves. I didn't dare driving across town to the store today because of the traffic.

Colorado is so beautiful. Envy the ability to get to altitude and enjoy the cool weather. It's been stereotypical Texas hot for the last couple weeks, and I'm sure we're in for more of it. Wife and I were up in Silverthorne/Frisco area a couple years ago, and really enjoyed it. Beautiful.

That looks like a great place to be. Our version of that is the lakes and rivers up in the northern part of the state, but we are also subject to the influx of tourism and all that comes along with it. It's always been expensive to have a place on a lake, but prices have literally doubled, sometimes even tripled over the past decade. Fortunately we still have a lot of state/national forests and waterways that us common folk can enjoy . My wife's BFF from childhood has lived in CO for almost 25 years and just came back for a visit last week, they are thikning of escaping back to WI due to many of the things you mention. But in most cases the grass is greener until you get there, glad you are finding ways to enjoy it.

Missed the water video earlier. That was cool. Reminded me of my dogs too. I wonder why I never see a dog swimming on its own, but when their people are around, water turns them into playing puppies. Just plain fun.
