I bet that piece will bring in some coinage. I am not a Strat guy, no matter the year or value. Try as I might I could never bond with one. I absolutely love a Tele but that is the only Fender I can say I like. I am a Les Paul man through and through.

I heard there was some group already raised 1.25 million $$ to try and secure it...maybe related to museumtonebender wrote: ↑Sat Jul 13, 2024 2:48 pm I bet that piece will bring in some coinage. Supposedly, Rory bought it in 1963 for about $125 with monthly installments....he really made that money work

- Gearlist: A tele, a bass and a bunch of other stuff.
I'm like Jeff: Tele, yes. Strat, hard no. Maybe it was the neck in a few that I've tried. I sound the same no matter what I play so it wouldn't make a difference (but I prefer not to play one).
I guess that it is worth $1.25 million to somebody.
Just for the heck of it: There is a Fender Custom Shop model that runs for $6,500 new ($3500 used).

There are few vintage shops here in Bangkok, I saw an old Gretsch circa 1950s priced about $12,000. Not my space..loltlarson58 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 9:27 am I'm like Jeff: Tele, yes. I just hope that a museum gets the Strat, id hate to learn it's sitting in Elon Musk's or Jay Leno's or Bill Gate's son in law's man cave never to be seen again. Effing billionaires..ha ha ha
I'm not a Strat man myself, but Rory was an absolute magician and that particular Strat is legendary (seriously, go read about its history if you haven't). I hope that either a museum gets it, or it goes to one of those players who loans it out to others.
