Here's an in-progress recording using the American Sound pedal from Joyo. I wanted to see what kind of tone this thing is capable of, and so far I like what it can do. The rough mix is an old KISS song called Comin' Home. Lots of editing and EQ work left to do, but maybe will give you an idea of what the pedal is capable of. I applied varying amounts of OD to both the guitars and bass.

I was just looking at a Joyo product. I was thinking about getting wireless modules for my microphone. They have been around awhile and make pretty good stuff that is very affordable. I think I had a pedal or two by Joyo back in the day when I had just short of a million pedals. The song sounds great!

Thanks! It's getting there.tonebender wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 8:53 pm I was just looking at a Joyo product. I was thinking about getting wireless modules for my microphone. Yeah, Joyo seems to make some decent stuff. I've tried a couple of their pedals and they can maybe be noisy if pushed too hard, but overall, they're a good value and seem to work pretty well. I also bought their Klon Centaur clone--the Tauren OD, which is pretty nifty as well.

I have the British Sound and really like it. I sent back a Box of Rock because it didn't do a Marshall sound any better than the $30 Joyo.
Great job on the song. Well played and arranged. I can hear the different tones/drives throughout the piece. The singing is right on as well. Tight job all-around!
** Edit ** 'Just listened to the song again. Is that you playing the drums and bass?

Thanks Tommy. I was wondering about the British Sound pedal. Have heard good things about it, too. Does it do the Marshall thing pretty well?tlarson58 wrote:I have the British Sound and really like it. I sent back a Box of Rock because it didn't do a Marshall sound any better than the $30 Joyo.

I built the drums in MT Power Drumkit. I don't know what I'm doing with drum software. Trying to get better with it.
Yeah, played bass and guitars.

What surprised me was how close you nailed Gene's bass tone on that tune. Was the bass going through the Joyo American Sound?

Thanks John. Yeah, I recorded everything direct through that chain. And yeah, I was actually trying to just make the bass pop a little more against the guitars, but I liked the dirty growly sound I got, so left it like that. Gene's bass does have a similar tone. The problem for me is that it also doesn't hide sloppy, not-quite-in-the-pocket grooves like I throw down typically. But with some punch in's and more knob work, hope to make it more presentable.toomanycats wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2024 3:22 pm What surprised me was how close you nailed Gene's bass tone on that tune. It even did some tones better. Luckily, I was able to return the Box of Rock and recoup the $200+. But that's my ear and I've only owned one Marshall amp so it's not like I have alot to compare it to.

Isn't it funny how we sometimes gravitate toward some of the sounds we grew up with, and sort of influenced what tones we like and want to hear in our own stuff. You nailed it with the 70s observation--at least for me!
