Congrats Mickey, I was going to say it looks like the one you had. Are you keeping the other one too? Is is for sale? Did you manual or automatic? I know I have a lot of questions.

The old one is blue, the new one is red.tonebender wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 6:29 am Congrats Mickey, I was going to say it looks like the one you had. Are you keeping the other one too? Is is for sale? Did you manual or automatic? I know I have a lot of questions.
No, I'm not keeping the old one. A friend of mine has been bugging me for years to let them have it.
The old one is a 6 speed stick. The new one is a 6 speed automatic (with paddle shifters.)
I do not mind the questions Jeff.

Will do but I do not expect it! They were over here yesterday evening drooling all over it!
Besides, you wouldn't want it! It has almost seventeen thousand miles on it!

Nice.
Hmm, I though the first MX-5 was white?
I will say it again, if anybody has any interest in the Miata, they should check out the MX-5 Cup, a blast to watch. YT live, on on IMSA.tv

I would be buying it for my wife, she loves all things blue so I would not even have to consult her.

Wow, 17K miles in eight years? You really abused that poor thing. So what, maybe one oil change the entire time you owned it?

Actually, three, I think. Mazda wants oil changes every 5k miles.

Well, I've got a 1996 Corvette that I've treated even worse than you and the Mazda: 22k miles in 16 years, bought it with 46k, it's now got 68k...

My next door neighbor is 83 years old. He had a 1972 Vette with less than 500 miles on it. He gave it to his son a couple of years ago and bought himself a new anniversary 2023 model. That thing is like a rocket ship.

The problem with new Vettes these days is they want to charge about $100,000 MORE than I am willing to pay.tonebender wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 3:50 pm My next door neighbor is 83 years old. There are several guitars out there that I feel the same way about. The other day I was at Guitar Center and for some unknown reason they had a $5500 Gibson SJ200 unlocked hanging there. I could not resist grabbing it down. I played it for about 30 seconds and was so blown away by the whole moment that I had to hang it back up and leave the room. Let's just say I have some fine playing and sounding acoustic guitars but this thing put them all in the dust. It was surreal. I now know why it cost so much and even though I could afford it, I am just not willing to folk over the cash. Ever since that day though I have been thinking about how I could convert gear that is collecting cobwebs into that guitar. Humans are funny creatures.

It was. My first one was a white ragtop.

I take it you have not seen the new PC Beach police cars? Think "C8 Corvette"
Good to see you "slumming" again!

HNIMD! My family has acquired 2 Mazda's in the past couple years - a CX30 that our kids drive and A CX9 for mom (no more minivan)! Mazda has in my mind taken over the crown for high quality/simple/reliable Japanese cars from Toyota/Honda. Plus they are a heck of a lot more fun to drive. Both of the CX's have the same real 6 speed transmission( not a CVT ) and also none of the cylinder deactivation/auto start stop nonsense most other automakers are adding. The AWD system is amazingly capable too - your Miata won't need that down in FL of course
My wife would like a convertible some day though, maybe you can sell me that one when you buy your next one in 2030 or whenever
