The company finally decided that I was important enough to try to retain, the day after I put in my resignation.
My old boss reached out to ask me personally before I was presented with the offer, in part to talk about our dearly departed friend. I thanked him for thinking of me, but my decision was made as soon as I had an offer in hand. Had they offered the retention scheme to all of my people at the time they announced the closure, I would have stayed. Now, with so much of the workforce already racing to the emergency exits due to a month of radio silence it was too little, too late. Just another failed scheme in a sad history of the company.
And so it ends

Some of my favorite people to work with are joining me as well.
AI helped me write a post that I can finally share my feelings.
farewell greetings going out strong towards dreadful former employer known as Carclo whose rapid descent down bankruptcy lane should be no surprise given how fervently even leadership desires such demise.

As convoluted as it is, it hits home.
I wish I could think of an funny AI response but it's too early and the subject is rather serious. Thanks for keeping us posted. I'm sorry that you had to endure this.

My wife had a similar situation where she left (undervalued, underappreciated and exploited for her superiors' glory) her old job of many years to go to another firm for a big raise and...actual respect. It was like the floodgates opened, and 5 people she worked with at the old place have joined her. It's come to the point where her old company said to the new one "could you please cut it out, dammit?!?"honyock wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2024 12:26 am Some of my favorite people to work with are joining me as well.

About 13 months later, I was encouraged to apply for the open Level III engineer position that had been vacated in February due to semi-retirement.
I hadn’t initially applied because I carried some PTSD from my previous company, where my skills were never acknowledged until after I left—by then, it was far too late to repair the fractured customer relationships I had spent years building. However, three different people, including my boss, urged me to apply. I clearly have the most experience in the areas they need, although there was one other person who seemed to assume he’d get the role. It’s a bit amusing how upset he’s been since the announcement that I was offered and accepted the promotion; he now barely speaks to me.
I’ve been assigned as one of the primary engineers for new project development, and I’m thoroughly enjoying working in the aerospace industry. The perks are great—nearly every other Friday off, no work calls on my personal time since I don’t have a work phone, and no one to manage except myself. To celebrate my first week, I treated myself to a new toy: a concealed carry weapon for offroading adventures, just in case of banditos.

Good news! So, for those of us into that sort of thing, what weapon did you choose? You do not have to be that specific.

Yes @honyock please do but tread lightly as I seemed to ruffle some feathers a few years back regarding my "bang bang" posts.tonebender wrote: ↑Sat May 24, 2025 9:51 pm Good news! So, for those of us into that sort of thing, what weapon did you choose? You do not have to be that specific.

I wanted something ambidextrous since I am a lefty. I liked that it can run the 14 round mags to be smaller or 20 round mags with a magazine sleeve so it can be more than just a carry pistol.
It is also optics ready, though the U shaped rear site is actually very easy and intuitive to pick up so I am not sure if I want to add the bulk of a red dot, but the option is there at least.
